Questions & Answers

Does this belt fit the Skil 7313 belt sander?

My apologies, but I do not know, but you might want to A string can be used to measure how many inches your belt sander covers in the event that this is not possible.

Is it possible to sand these with water?

As described in the item description, these belts can be used for both wet and dry sanding.

Do you think this could be used to polish a small engine's crankshaft?

When it comes to just polish, I like the 1000-series This set has 5000 grit. This vendor charges the same price

We are looking for a tool that we can use to shape small parts Can you please tell me whether 600 grit or 800 grit will work better? Thanks so much! ?

If I were to shape rough parts using 220 grit, I'd finish with 600 and then go back to 1000. Your choice of hardwood will determine the strength of the wood. The wood needs to be heard, regardless of the answers you find here.

Selected User Reviews For Red Label Abrasives 1 X 30 Inch 36 Grit Sanding Belts - Industrial Grade Silicon Carbide - 12 PACK - For Knife Sharpening and Metalworking

My favorite thing about Red Label Abrasives is their belts and the way they do business! purchased a few of essentially every type of knife sharpening belt available on Amazon in an attempt to make a comparison
5/5

The belts that I buy are of poor quality, so I stop purchasing them Ibid. , para. My first impression of these belts was that they were of exceptional quality as soon as I opened the package from Red Label Abrasives! The books all had a good weight to them and were supported by a solid foundation It doesn't even matter what grit you use! These are coated well and hold up well after hours of sharpening, even after being there for a couple weeks. I received my order, but I had to return a couple of items for some unfortunate reason. Apparently Amazon notified the vendor right away, as he immediately got back to me after he heard about it from Amazon - prior to Amazon actually notifying him I received a response from him. As Thanksgiving week approaches, many people will be spending time with family. The speed in which he reacted to my inquiry was just blown away. I am so used to missing or ineffective online merchandise that I was just blown away by his prompt response. You cannot have it both ways! There is one main aspect of a business that can determine whether it is a good, reputable one or not, and that is its "After-Sales Service". I was told that soon I would be receiving the merchandise that I had requested, but in addition, I would receive the entire order again, such as the grits that I did not order at all. Just the fact that someone contacted me at all was like receiving an early Christmas present! The fact that one went so far above and beyond what they were supposed to do just about stunned Despite the problem, they have been so gracious about how they resolve it that I feel blessed to have experienced the problem just to find out what great people they are. The fact that it was a buyer made me so happy because I loved that belt so much it would have made me sick if it had been mine. Situations that are long-term may prove to be problematic.
The problem is, I honestly feel that, if you are not purchasing any of the belts this vendor has to offer, either you are paying too much or you are suffering from subpar products. They are inferior quality. Both my Harbor Freight and my Able-to belts are exactly the same Sharpen your blades with this tech It uses the same belt sharpener as the previous system but has sharpening improvements built right in. Since I retired from the accounting business 40 years ago, I have dealt with hundreds of different businesses. If anyone else got one of these belts I would not only deride them as being foolish but also recommend them to my friends. In the event that the company you are dealing with goes to great lengths to ensure your satisfaction, you are making a great purchase decision. In case you are buying new belts for your belt sharpener, follow these instructions There is no need to look.

Is doing the job it was assigned to do
4/5

I know this is the fastest sharpening system, but it does take more practice and supervision to achieve an even cutting I sharpened about a dozen knives on the 1000 grit, and it appeared that it was wearing, but it still sharpened well. My experience is that leather belts with compound are sufficient for all but the most extreme needs. Announcing the latest update, please read this There has been a contact from a seller about an alternative 1000 grit product which I will be trying at least one initially. Customer service gives one star (in update 2) When it comes to durability, the new belts are comparable to the old ones but I will probably choose Red Label Abrasives for a given product after reviewing Red Label (if only because fine grit belts have a longer life time in general).

My sander seems to be working fine
5/5

I have gone through a thorough cleaning process with an old Schrade Golden Spike with 1095 HC steel that is very hard in order to remove all the rust and blemishes on the belts. But the belts are doing It took only a short time for the belt to smooth out I haven't broken a single belt. However, I would expect that with 1095 HC. In terms of speed, I would have preferred some heavier grit belts, but I'm asking too much of these with this hard steel. Thus, I need to be careful not to remove too much steel too quickly and to not overheat the blade, which could destroy I am having no problems with them.

It is a good idea to use them to start the edge of a blade
4/5

For sharpening knives, I use a small belt sander with 240 grit, which will help establish an edge if the knife is really dull. The belts I've used never broke, and they aren't as solid as belts that cost a lot of money. Although I do prefer old ones that are a bit worn to remove less blade material, and to remove it more slowly as they get older. It is, therefore, a positive development for me. It is more comfortable for me to use higher grits (800 and above) If you want a finished edge, then you will need higher-grit (1000 or higher) for finishing, but a 220 grit will help you establish an edge quicker. In particular, old knives (and cheap ones) are susceptible to this. In fact, I have touched up her hickory knives with the 220 a lot of times for roots, cutting off small branches, and other tasks. My wife is always reaching for her old hickory knives and I know she will use.

The 800 doesn't hold a spear for 3 spears because of flaring and tape seams
3/5

Within a few minutes of opening the package, I noticed all the edges were frayed, or at the very least had strings hanging off of It is also very visible that the tape seams run along the edges. Having used them for a bit, I am not overly impressed at present, but I will use them for a bit to see how they hold up. As an update, we finished cleaning the three blades and the mild steel, and we are ready to do 600 and 800 grits. A simple bump would take care of removing a marker mark from the mild steel, but even that wouldn't clean it. I noticed they were worn out at that point. Here's an update. I was contacted by the maker, and he offered to replace the belts, apologizing for the fraying and bad seams. will stop raining here soon and I will be able to forge something to test them all.

I couldn't find 1x30 belt sanding belts at Lowe's or Home Depot, but I managed to find them on Amazon and My Harbor Freight store sold me a belt sander that I used to sharpen lawnmower blades, knives, I was not able to find the belts I needed at Harbor Freight because they did not have belts with the right grit
5/5

It was a convenient order to have all the grit options needed to sharpen a tool. The quality of these products is superb. This book is highly.

This is a very cheaply made product
3/5

This is a very cheaply made product. I've wore down the 400 after only one use and all 3 of the 1000 grit have been busted at the seams within seconds of turning on the machine. I almost got smacked in the face by one of them.

The belts did not last as long as the harbor freight silica carbide belts, and the size is not uniform
3/5

I was really hoping they would outlast Harbor Freight silica carbide belts, but they seem to degrade at about It is also difficult to wear them. In one, it was quite loose, in another, it was too I would suggest improving quality control, especially since the belts cost a lot of money. Buy the cheap belts and save some money.
