This garbage will be returned. It is not only ineffective, but also hazardous. I am not a newcomer to the industry, having worked in it for over 50 years. I put it through its paces with a 6" hole saw. I was never able to secure the hole saw to this arbor, but I did get the threading as tight as possible before pressing the anchor posts into the hole saw. It cuts, so the hole is marginally functional. Lifting the hole saw out of the hole you've cut poses a significant risk. When you remove the hole saw from the hole, it usually continues to rotate, allowing it to come out easily and without sticking. Pulling the hole saw out of the hole while it is rotating on this arbor causes the saw to disengage from the arbor and fly wherever it wants. I'm lucky I didn't lose a finger or worse, and I didn't damage anything nearby. It was purchased because it was advertised as being easier to remove from the hole saw once it was completed. Anyone who has worked with a traditional arbor knows how difficult it can be at times. However, unless you want to be hurt or cause damage, this piece of garbage is not the solution.
I ordered this because the drill bit described in the title is exactly what I need. The arbor was the only thing I got. br>My shipment is either missing something or the title is incorrect. With a title description of "LENOX Tools Hole Saw Arbor with 4-Inch Arbor" and a description of "LENOX Tools Hole Saw Arbor with 4-Inch Arbor" 1/4- I'm expecting to receive the arbor and bit for the "Inch Drill Bit (1779772)".
. What about the drill bit that came with it? its junk. br>The drill bit's LOW QUALITY can jeopardize your project, your hole saw, your equipment, and, most importantly, your SAFETY.
Be wary of the buyer! For those of us in the field, this isn't a big deal. However, as an electrical journeyman, I've been buying Lenox products for years. Lenox is an incredible individual. It was too late to return the item after I had already used it, so I thought to myself, "I'm sure glad I bought my lost arbor again," only to discover that it says IRWIN on the side! br>br>In my case, the snap packages were repacked with an Irwin arbor. br>br>However, as I previously stated, it does the job. I'm sure I'm going to lose or break this one as well.
I purchase Lennox in the hopes that it will be able to withstand nuclear attack. This is the one - I'll have to use epoxy or something to secure the pins. Also, for all the drills with quick release, they should include a 1/4-inch adapter. Lenox, be courteous to your followers.
Unlocking is a little more difficult this time. This is the first 'wrenchless' arbor I've bought, and I'm glad to see that manufacturers are making the process much simpler. Simply screw it in until the pins line up, then close the collar. I gave it four stars because pulling the collar back to unlock it is a bit of a challenge. Even after lubricating it, unlocking it requires far too much effort. It helps to wiggle it back and forth as you pull, but I believe it should be smooth in both directions. Functionality, on the other hand, is unaffected.
Aside from small hole saws, this arbor is the best I've ever used, and I've tried a lot of them. br>br>Smaller hole saws that are easier to use. While you're drilling, 1/2" can catch the arbor and push the pins out of the hole saw! However, aside from those dimensions, this is my favorite arbor! It's similar to the Milwaukee one in that it slides in and out, but it doesn't fall apart.
The quick-change feature is fantastic, and the center is good for a hole saw. Mikwaukee hole saws are not threaded.
