Questions & Answers
These bits are used to start a hole; they leave a 60-degree tapered hole that aids in the starting of your drill bit.
You may use up to five pieces, but not the larger ones: The largest has a 15/32" shank, while the other has a 25/64" shank.
The bit size determines the number of bits. 5 2. 25" long with a diameter of about 3/8" That's the longest and thickest, with a shank that's only about 1/16" in diameter.

The Amazon listing photos show a QUALITY Center Drill Set with QUALITY laser etching for lettering to clearly identify Center Drill Bit Size; however, you will receive a cheap Center Drill Set with markings that are difficult to read. On some smaller Center Drill Bits, there is no marking at all. br>br>In addition, the Center Drill Bit Container is insufficient to hold Center Drill Bits. During shipping, the precision sharp Center Drill Bits banged around. The Center Drill Bits in the container have no way of being separated from one another. The photos clearly show that the Center Drill Set you received is NOT the same as the one pictured in the Amazon listing photos.
Use caution when working with stainless steel. On steel, it will work for a couple of cuts, but I broke a tip without any major bending. Cutting stainless steel was a complete waste of time for me. It wouldn't even make a dent at low speed with lubricant and a lot of pressure.
To make a gps motorcycle rack, I drilled and tapped aluminum bars on both ends. When tapping for a 1/4-inch thread, I tried to match the center drill bit's OD to the tap drill bit's OD as closely as possible. To line up the round bar and drill head so that everything was on center, I used a drill press and a jury rigged jig, then drilled away with the center bit. It worked like a charm, ensuring that my tap drill was centered and aligned correctly before I began drilling for the tap. So far, I've only used the center drill bit in soft aluminum, so I'm not sure how well it'll hold up in steel drilling.
At this time, I am unable to give a rating for "Longevity" or "Durability. " So far, I've only used the first five. Drilled a steel pipe cap, which functioned flawlessly. Anyone who works with metal should have this on hand. Many broken drills will be saved by using center drills.
I recently received the center drill bit set and used it for the first time; it looks great, is sturdy, and drills through 1/8" stainless steel with ease. And there's no visible damage from drill bits. Later on, I'll assess the longevity and durability of the product. So far, it appears to be a good deal.
These center drill bits should be in everyone's toolbox.
I just received these center drills today. When I opened them, I discovered that they were extremely small; the largest one measures approximately 2 inches in length, while the smallest measures approximately 1 1/4 inch in length, lol. One of the components had already been broken. Another was rusted to the point of being unusable. Although they come with a plastic storage case, the large drill is too large to fit in it. I'm not going to buy anything else in the future!.
The center drills are made of high-quality high-speed steel, and I would purchase them again.
