Rockwell RW8941 Sonicrafter Oscillating Multitool Sanding Finger Pad with Universal Fit System

I had purchased a single one a few weeks before because I was refinishing a chair that required sanding in tight areas such as joints and between slats. After about 15 minutes of use, the little nylon pad that holds the sandpaper on completely melted, rendering the item useless. There are no warnings that "this tool may become hot and melt the pad if used for an extended period of time. " "I only slowed down the speed and maintained a "light" touch with this one after reading a review from another user. br>br>ON THE OTHER HAND! The sandpaper was held in place by a small nylon pad, which had come loose! I didn't use it for more than 5 minutes before I realized I needed to replace the sandpaper; When the whole thing just came off, I was very careful not to pull the sandpaper off without holding the pad down! I used Liquid Nails to try to fix it, but I'll have to wait and see if it works! This is completely absurd!.

Before it failed, I was able to get 15 minutes out of it. The pad is held in place by a weak rubber between the metal and the hook and loop material. There isn't much material at the pointy end, and that's the part moving the fastest, so all the force is exerted with insufficient material to keep it stuck. results in a poor design The top third of the machine couldn't handle sanding paint on a boat with 80 grit sandpaper. The pad's friction with the paint won out, and the rubber/hook came in second. The loop quickly disintegrated, allowing the pad's point to remain stationary while the base moved back and forth. So, unless you're going to do 220 grit on smooth wood, I'd skip this. Because only the bottom half of the sanding pad has the hook and loop, there's no way to sand in a corner, making this item, along with the other 19 sanding pads I bought, a waste of money for me. It's pointless!.

After an hour and a half of use, mine had melted. We needed a small tool to sand an aluminum window frame that we were cleaning. Paint was used on the sides and caulk was used on the bottom. On the caulk, it worked fine for a while, but on the paint, the tool seemed to work too hard and melt, which I knew was a flaw because I had calculated how long it would take to overheat while removing caulk. I'm guessing the painted surface sped up the heating process significantly. I was dissatisfied because I was only offered half of the job. done. br>The tool I received is not the same as the ones shown on this page. The hook and loop pad in the photo looks a lot thicker than the one I got.

I hate to be the one to criticize anything or anyone, but I can't believe Rockwell left this sanding attachment in the hands of their employees for so long. Rockwell aficionados who have been fans for a long time. When I first received the sanding accessory, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and used it for about twenty seconds before it melted down and wouldn't even hold another sanding pad. So I had another one sent to me to replace the one that I thought was just a one-time bad part, but it only lasted a few seconds longer than the first, so what else can I say except that I do not recommend this great idea that flopped for anyone to purchase it is the worst part I have that I needed to work. Simply put, the postage isn't worth it.

This is the only time I've used it (to sand some cabinets before painting them). However, I decided to write an early review based on the reviews I read when deciding whether or not to purchase this book. Despite the fact that I had read that the accessory could melt or fall apart, I couldn't pass it up for $6. I've had no problems with it, and it's the perfect fit for my Kobalt OMT. I even bought some finger sanding pads that worked perfectly with this accessory. It's ideal for cramming into tight spaces and getting into those intricate crevices found in custom cabinets.

These were required to get to a difficult location. br>br> Because angles are difficult to work with, the sandpaper wears out quickly, and once you hit the pad of the accessory, it no longer holds the sandpaper securely enough to complete the task. A better design (possibly longer) or a better method of attaching sandpaper is required.

I bought two of these to try them out for a stair job I'm doing (I'm in the flooring trade, so I sand and finish) and I was very disappointed because the first one didn't last me half of the stairs (which they usually do, i know heat is a big factor so I carry a vacuum with me when I use them and I go on the lowest setting so it doesn't melt the velcro), so I left the other one untouch, but man was I happy It undoubtedly saved me from a night of aching fingers.

I wasn't applying any pressure, so it can't be used anymore because the pads won't stick to the base. Money well spent. This item does not meet Rockwell's usual high standards. It's very upsetting, and I'm not sure I'll ever buy another Rockwell product.
