These will work with the 7800, yes.
Yes, they work with the 7800; after trying a variety of pad types, I prefer the way these sand; when the pad is new, reduce the rpm slightly to avoid swirl marks.
The hook and loop system is not compatible with these pads. The pad is held in place by the sander's center plate, which screws down.

When I tried a less expensive version, the sand paper came loose from the pad. Porter & Company, Inc. Cable brand sand paper lasts the same amount of time as sand paper. Don't make the same mistake I did and try to save a buck or two by trying a less expensive brand only to end up paying more. Porter is the only thing I'll buy. From now on, I will only use Cable brand pads.
My opinion now is that if you're going to spend $800 to $1000 on a power sander with a vacuum system, why waste money on sanding pads? You'll be able to sand walls and ceilings with ease and almost no dust. What a relief after years of inhaling miles of drywall dust, not to mention burning eyes and disgruntled clients. BTW, the Porter Cable sander comes with one of these in the box, and it's 150 grit, which is a good all-purpose grit that cuts quickly while causing no damage to the paper.
My drywall sander is one of my favorite tools.
I've been using these on drywall jobs for years, and they're perfect 80grit for cutting and smoothing texture cielings.
It was a perfect fit for my sanding machine.
Very nice product.
These sanding discs work well with Porter Cable's drywall sander. They are not under or over sized and allow the dust skirt to capture perhaps 95% of the dust using the proper vacuum and allow the dust skirt to capture maybe 95% of My customer had no idea I'd sanded the smoothness out of her kitchen ceiling. She told me she wanted to cover her dark granite counter tops before I sanded her ceiling because they were too dark. Imagine her surprise when I informed her that the job had been completed.
