As far as I am concerned, you should be able to do it since it has worked for me. The main purpose, however, is to serve as a lubricant, so I am not sure if I would use it for tools. Its strength lies in this area. Use as a rust inhibitor only would seem to be a bit expensive.
The substance is like oil, thin. This oil is thicker/heavier in weight compared to the Slip In terms of thickness and weight, Slip 2000 gun oil is thicker and heavier than Slip 2000 family of lightweight synthetic oils are my favourites since they penetrate well and do not flash off when heated. With that said, Slip 2000 is the best gun oil on the market right now. I've tried most of them, and I've settled on Slip 2000 as my gun oil of choice. The red (regular Slip 2000) works for most tasks, and I've always got a bottle on hand since it's less expensive. In the case of certain gun parts such as BCGs or AR15s, this is not true. The right way to go is via EWL. Over 2000 rounds have been put down range in tactical classes before, and EWL has kept my weapon in good condition. I'm surprised at how much I like it. The idea of cleaning off grease is not appealing to me, nor would I CLP and Hope's #9 had done their jobs until I noticed my pistols were starting to wear out.
