There are red and brown pads on my target that are so aggressive they scratched my target to death. Although they probably won't work well on an iron engine block, they would probably be perfect for cleaning gaskets. The chances of me risking them on aluminum are very slim. While I was at Lowe's, I bought a set of pads for a Dremel tool similar to those I purchased. These worked better in every potential.
The price is reasonable, and they are well worth buying. Usually I don't need them very often, but when the time comes, they are needed. I have used much better discs that last much longer, but they are significantly more expensive. Light users such as me who use these a few times a month would find them worthy of your consideration. When I used them to clean up some rust around brake calipers and rotors, they worked well, but they didn't last as long as I had hoped. Perhaps I wouldn't buy them if I had a heavier workload or if changing pads would take a lot longer than usual.
This product is of the same quality as 3M brand, but at a fraction of the price. You will not regret this purchase at this price point.
Using a roloc set can be a very cheap and effective method. They sharpened my mower blades and garden implements as I requested, and they did a good job. If you're using an air compressor, be sure to put your gloves on first It is powered by a As of yet I have not used them with an electric drill, but I do not see any reason why they cannot be used.
My lathe and air grinder function with the arbor and discs but not my drill press and hand held. Discs clogged up far too quickly, however, and the grits are good, but they will sand to a smooth finish. One disc on the lathe wore right off and left a blue stain on the surface of the wood at 900 rpms. For polishing the inside of shallow bowls I was making, I glued a folded sandpaper to the lathe and it was more effective.
The things I use every day are invaluable to me. As I understand it, I bought them to clean the gasket faces on a car engine, and they performed well for that purpose. However, now that I know what this product can do, I believe I will be able to find other uses for it. Changing pads and going from one grit to another is very easy.
For removing light rust and sticking components, these are just perfect. When it comes to gasket material around an amateur shop, you're really not going to go wrong.
As if Scotchbrite pads had a sense of humor. With coarse, medium, and fine grits, you should be able to polish and grind your way to success. The only thing you will find here are the pads. It's necessary to have the holder for these pads.
