The polishing pads I used for these were chosen for polishing aluminum fuel tanks and wheels on a dump truck in a second step. The truck is 30 years old and used to be an over-the-road tractor, but it was recently converted to a dump truck. Originally the tanks and wheels were milky and i watched videos on how to polish them so they had a shiny surface. These were perfect and i'm still using the first one. Thus, I have used it on two 100-gallon fuel tanks and two front wheels and it has worn down about half of its original diameter. Angle die grinders are used for this purpose.
Using the four chisels and a 2ah Ryobi 18v battery, I spent only a few minutes on this job and I'm pleased to report it was exactly what I wasn't I would say that it's about the same as 400-grit It polishes easily and doesn't scratch a lot. Since they're so stiff, I was expecting them to bend much easier. But as you can see, they get quite blunted by sharp edges quite easily. Even though I was not looking for 10 of these, I had no choice but to get the super fine grit I needed. This product is great for rust removal without scratching (at least for me). When you take care of it (like me), it wears in a matter of minutes. If you need all 10, it is worth the money (which is not the case for Moreover, I work in a drill for little jobs (I am actually me).
Aluminum looks great when it is polished using these. Finished to an exceptionally fine standard. Also, I used them to remove powder coating from aluminum gates and fix some welded joints. While they did their job, they quickly wore out.
After just a few minutes or seconds, these loose their bite, but do work reasonably well. As long as they are worn down to a nub they still function, but the texture is softer and they polish more than cut and grind after the first 2 minutes. The idea that they would last forever had been mentioned. I don't know what they're using them for, but removing light rust from sheet metal wore mine out in about ten.
