Questions & Answers

What is the best method for cutting foam to fit into a box?

I'm sorry, but I didn't complete that task. I've worked with felt before, but never with foam. Presticky foam is what I use for felt. I make it a little bigger than it needs to be, then trim it down with a razor blade.

Is it possible to label the bits in some way?

Not to be rude, but each bit's profile can be seen, so there's no need to label them. Simply take some time to familiarize yourself with your parts.

Do you sell or manufacture 1/8 shank router bits?

Sixty-four 1/4" and fifty 1/2" shank bits can be stored in the POWERTEC 71046 Router Bit Tray for 110 Bits.

Will it be able to support larger drill bits?

The answer is simple: YES. I bought one to give it a try, and I'm using half of it to hold 1/2" shank bits and the other half for 1/4" shank bits. They've been in the foam tray for nearly two months and haven't changed since I put them in. I'm almost out of space, so I'll have to buy another one soon. Because of the various cutter widths and profiles, not all of the holes are filled when I say "at capacity," but I have used at least half of them.

Selected User Reviews For POWERTEC 71046 Router Bit Tray for 110 Bits

The holes are a little tight, and it's difficult to get them any deeper than 1/2"
4/5

I wish I could have pushed the bit shafts in a little further, but they're a little tight. It still holds them in place well, and the spacing is ideal for storing a large number of 1/2" shank straight/flush cutters. When using profile bits, however, the hole spacing is a little tight. Because the OD of most of the bits isn't very large, the 1/4" holes are well spaced. However, the OD of some 1/2" bits is large enough that they touch each other, requiring you to go through each hole. It would be better for spacing the 1/2" bits if they removed 2 1/2" holes per row; it wouldn't look as nice because the holes wouldn't line up perfectly, but it would be more practical (for my collection). Perhaps a row or two of wider spacing between the profile bits and the existing straight/flush bit spacing. br>br>While the foam is stiff, it is still slightly flexible. When I removed it from the packaging, it had a slight odor. Only the outside of the plastic wrapper has labels; there are none on the foam. br>br>When I finished putting all of my bits in, I was surprised at how many I had amassed over the years.

For router bits, this is the perfect firm foam storage
5/5

For storing router bits, this is the ideal solution. It fits nicely in a Makita or Festool systainer with just a couple of notch cuts, despite being a couple of inches narrower side to side. It comes with a sticker on one side; instead of attempting to remove it as the other reviewer did, simply place the sticker side DOWN since both sides are identical.

Bits aren't everything
5/5

Three of these exist in my possession. I glued a 1/4 inch piece of plywood to each of them to make them more user friendly. I keep router bits in one, drill bits in another, and whatever I'm working on in the third, along with pencils, bit holders, countersink bits, small files, a magnetic retrieval tool, and a few screws, in the third. I keep it with me as I work in my workshop, and it helps me avoid changing bits, setting them down, and then having no idea where they are 5 minutes later. This is a must-have tool for anyone who wants to stay organized.

It does exactly what it says on the tin
4/5

It's a simple router bit tray and holder. It's a hard synthetic with well-spaced holes that gets the job done. I believe it is overpriced for what it is. that is what you will receive It's most likely injection molded, and it's simple to construct. It has a slight odor when first opened, but it dissipates after a few hours. I needed an insert for a router bit box I was building, so I built the box around it. It was free of labels. If I ever needed another, I'd purchase it again.

This is a fantastic bit organizer! The bit organizer is very nice
5/5

Bits push in with a little force and stay put just fine; previously, I had made an organizer out of MDF, which was a mistake. Wood always has some moisture in it, even MDF (6%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%-7%- 10% on average) and that was enough to oxidize the shafts on the shafts of the shafts of the shafts of the shafts of the shafts of the shafts of the shafts Although they cleaned up the mess, the damage had already been done. Get one, but avoid making one out of wood!.

This is a fantastic way to keep track of your router bits
5/5

I was tired of dealing with the small plastic cases that Freud router bits come in; they take up space and are difficult to remove and replace. This foam block holds all of my bits in one place, making it simple to insert and remove them. I like that it supports 1/4 and 1/2 inch shanks; the price is fair for what you get, and it's a lot faster than drilling plywood to make something similar. I can put all of my router bits in the tray and pick it up because the bits are securely held in place; you can even tip it over and the bits will not move.

It went above and beyond my expectations
5/5

The durability of this item astounded me. It also allows you to cram a lot of information into a limited amount of space. br>br>I tried making router bit racks out of wood on my drill press, but the holes I drilled with a 1/2" bit were too tight for the router bits to fit, so I drilled them out again with a 9/16" bit, which made them too loose and the router bits wobbled around. At that point, rather than spend the money on another 17/32" Forstener bit, I decided to give this a shot, and I'm glad I did. The bits are snug and don't wobble, but they're still easy to put on and take off. I'm going to make a drawer to fit the dimensions of the tray. When my Router bit collection outgrows this tray, I will undoubtedly purchase a second one. It's worth noting that this has a strong odor. br>br> You're aware of the foam-like substance. Is there a chemical smell to the plastic? I don't mind it, so I didn't deduct a star, but I understand that it bothers others. After a week or two, I didn't notice it anymore.

It easily fits into Makita systainer boxes
5/5

In a Makita systainer (small), I bought this to store my router bits. This tray is ideal for the job. My Forstner bits, however, are too tall for the Makita small case, as I discovered. As a result, I'll be ordering another of these trays for a Makita medium case, allowing me to become even more organized. It easily accommodates both my 1/4 and 1/2 bits. br>br> What's not to like about something that does what it's supposed to do while also allowing me to protect my investment in bits?.
