I'm going to give it four stars because it's pretty much exactly what it says it is. I didn't buy it to use as a mobile toolbox, so it's more than adequate for my needs. I'm only using this as a backup. I need more storage space for my tools! br>Actually, it's a pretty good box. The drawers are easy to open and close. At this price, they aren't likely to be ball bearings. They are, however, quite good. You have the option of using a padlock to secure it. Although the hinges aren't the best, they'll suffice. There's a lot of storage space on the top. I'm not going to use the lid because it's a little flimsy. Overall, a good, heavy (must be 10 lbs) and fairly sturdy box. It has a full piano style hinge, which is nice, but there are no side handles. The top handle is solid and comfortable to hold. China is the source of this product. I'm filthy, to be sure. However, if you're looking for some extra storage or just a cheap knock-around box, I recommend this. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
This box is quite heavy when empty, and it will be even more so when fully loaded. The entire box has a solid and sturdy feel to it, from the smooth opening drawers to the latches and hinges for the top cover. For my purposes, it is to be a stationary tool box that will sit inside a shelf system, and it works brilliantly in that regard. When pushed with a little pressure on the right side of the tray, the drawers stay closed, eliminating the possibility of the drawer creeping out, which is a nice feature. The included diagrams show how to lubricate the drawer tracks and, if necessary, remove the drawers. When the top cover is down, a bar runs down the back of the toolbox, locking all of the drawers in place. This is useful if you need to move the toolbox. The locking bar can be removed by tapping out a single large pin holding it in place, and the bar will pull out, as I did. It does everything I expect it to do and has a nice look and feel to it, so I'll be keeping it for a long time.
I hate writing negative reviews, but I felt compelled to do so for this tool chest, which I purchased to store my tools in a boat's engine room. The drawers, unfortunately, do not close properly. When you use the drawers to store actual tools, the weight of the tools causes the drawers to open and the chest to topple. You'll develop bloody forehead syndrome if you need to move tools from one location to another with this box. You will be disappointed if you purchase this box.
The seller has been extremely rude and unprofessional to deal with, in addition to withholding our refund unreasonably (despite the fact that they have the product in their possession). This is the last time I'll buy something from this seller.
It's almost identical to the 4-year-old version. I bought a drawer Craftsman Toolbox about 30 years ago, and it's still in great shape. I did a one-on-one comparison with my older one when I got this one, expecting the quality to be lower, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not only is the quality comparable, but the design has also been improved. The new one has removable drawers, and the area beneath the drawer handles where your fingers go to open the drawer is larger and smoother than the old one. I would buy this toolbox again in a heartbeat if I needed another one.
It's a flimsy, overpriced hunk of junk. br>I don't mind if it's made in China, but there's definitely better "made in China" crap out there than this.
I had intended to store real tools in the drawers, but the slides are so flimsy and the metal is so thin that I've decided to keep it solely for storing lightweight plastic tools. Despite this, I'm not sure the slides will last a year. br>My previous craftsman toolbox had a 20-year lifespan. I'll recommend this one if you call it a hobby box and sell it for $40.
When the toplatch is closed, the drawers don't lock in, they open up as nd it shouldn't work like that, it should stay locked all draws or trays, whatever you call them, should stay locked when the top piece is closed, very poor design.
