Questions & Answers

The manufacturing plant where these were made?

The tools of APEX are used in China. A manufacturer of good quality and the same as craftsman.

Do these have a ratcheting mechanism?

I don't think that this is ratcheting, Jorge. I appreciate it

What if any marks are found on the wrenches?

An included gear wrench has the wrench size and gearwrench logo stamped on it. Reading the text is pretty easy, but it's a little hard to see. Chrome finishes the markings on the entire piece.

What makes these better than the Craftsman Professional line of products with regard to fitment?

It seems like these wrenches are more finished and better fitted to the fittings. I think I've never had a fitting rounded off by any of them. They seem to be made from very high-quality metals.

I would recommend this to everyone
4/5

It will save you a lot of time using these wrenches. Even though Snap On prices are out of my reach, I've used Gearwrench wrenches enough to assume that these would be suitable. And they are more than adequate. It is true that they have a sloppier fit than more expensive wrenches like Snapon, but it is not as bad as Several times will you save your butt using the flex action that is very smooth and allows extreme angles. My first project was to fit a rack on a Cadillac Northstar before I bought the racks, and then I did the power steering lines on another Northstar a few weeks later. In addition to being a big pain, removing the lines from the rack without the flex wrenches wasted even more time than I'd like to admit since I had to remove more things than I wanted to loosen them. This flex wrench allowed me to release the line from the rack quickly without any tools or removal of anything around the rack. I am glad I spent the money! This is so you can expect the quality of a tool made overseas to be of good quality. The performance isn't stellar, but it's sufficient. Polished to a very high level, the wrenches have a nice finish. There is no consistency between the flex joints of the wrenches, some are loose, others are The flex wrenches I've seen will probably fail eventually at the flex joint, too, like other similar products. I, like most other people, don't use these everyday I do it about once a month. Hence, I expect they will last quite a while at that level of usage. As compared to the average flare nut wrench, they are a little long. I enjoy using the wrenches because they are nice to use, easy to use, look good, and save me a lot of time and effort.

This wrench is either my favorite or my least favorite! The wrenches came out only at $12 per piece, so I think it's a good deal
3/5

Here are the good points wrenches are a great look, and they certainly fit the bill when you're trying to reach an angled fastener. There is a lot of meat on them and they are plated beautifully. It seems like the fasteners all fit correctly on the correct-sized screws, so I found no problem with the size. With these, Gearwrench appears to have gained some knowledge There is a nice radius to the edges of the wrenches, so they won't cause your hands pain like the hard edges on the Gearwrench set I have.
And last but not least, Several wrenches can have different flexing patterns as flexing varies among different models. It is loose and floppy in some cases, and binds up in others, and requires two hands to bend. As far as I can tell, there is an Allen-type device It has an adjustment screw on one side on each of the heads, but when I tried to turn the screw with an Allen wrench, the head stripped out. One would expect Gearwrench to know how to place the detents so they can be clicked into place. In the case you buy these in, there is a large, useless chunk of plastic in the bin that's just destined for As well as being too tall to fit it inside a drawer, it does not have a lid. Maybe they are offering them at closeout prices to make way for a better product? The wrenches I bought cost me only $12 per wrench, so even with the issues it's not a bad deal Gearwrench products just don't live up to my expectations.

This isn't bad quality, but it could have been more useful in size (updated)
3/5

One star is now assigned to this review There are stars) There was a set screw that failed on the 11mm wrench, so the head just flops around, making it I can return the tool to Gearwrench (apex tool), but it takes several weeks and I must pay both shipping and handling fees. *br* - The previous review was Although the screw that holds the head tight tends to come loose as a previous reviewer pointed out, they feel decently built. When you don't have a set of tiny allen keys on hand to tighten the tiny screw, this is annoying, as I learned while trying to attach brake calipers. My car (1984 Volvo 240) also requires an 8mm wrench for the bleed valves, so I was frustrated that the set didn't come with the size I needed. was not a horrible situation, since I could use a box end wrench on them, but it was a bit annoying to not have a size that fitted.

This set was very nice to look at
3/5

The design of this set was appealing to the eye. However, the fit of the wrenches on the flare nuts seems to be a bit loose. With regards to my 4Runner, the fit was quite loose and some of the more stubborn flare nuts rounded off due to the loose fit.

I liked it for the price, and there is no real reason to shell out more money
4/5

I think this is a nice set to add to your collection, at the right price, and not too bad to look at either. My intention was to replace mismatched Chinese junk that was very old. In general, I don't use SAE often, I mostly use metric, so I could not really justify the tool truck cost. In terms of quality, these wrenches may be China/Taiwan, but they are way more impressive than your average Chinese tools. This is true for most Gearwrench products, as it is nice to get overseas As for the fit on lines, there is not terrible sloppiness like with some cheap line wrenches. The machining is pretty good, so the fit is not horribly bad. There are a lot of flaws in this set, including how it does not match the Snap On wrench, but the entire set cost much less than one Snap On, so I'll live with it. It fits better than some old Clifton line wrenches and craftsman line wrenches that In addition, they look great, and I value aesthetics. It is easy to clean them too because they have a smooth finish. It's easy to read the sizes since they're clearly marked. In fairness, I can't really think of anything negative about this set, but for the price that it is. It won't take long for them to finish. The advantage is that this is great for tight spaces, but the disadvantage is that it is hard to leverage. Among these, you may want to add Gearwrench flex head line wrenches. At the same time, I purchased the metric set as well. They are noticeably longer and flex at each end, which significantly increases their utility. These wrenches have a nice offset of the heads, and they can sometimes get into places more easily since they have a different angle. Sometimes, the offset is so great that this wrench is practically useless, or very close. A second reason why getting the flex head set is a good idea. In summary, I think this set is great for the price.
