Near the end of the tap, the threads are nice and smooth, as you would expect for its This tap is slightly less than "precision" ground at the tip, and if you're using it to clean out a previously threaded hole, make sure the tap is dead on straight, or it will cross thread. The tap and die set in this case worked quite well, and it came with a rarer thread size that my shop tap and die did not. There's no better feeling than being happy.
