Since I got a ton of old Pine Heart lumber, I bought this tool last year in July. Over 100 years old barn from which this was taken. The paper is very thick and heavy, at 5 inches thick. It was great to use this tool as well! All of it was identified, it was fast, and it automatically calibrated so I was able to plane and saw the lumber without any problems. It's going to be hard for me to use the lumber again this year because the wizard was not working correctly. There was also a lot of erratic behavior. The batteries have been changed, but to no avail. I read that the warranty was for one year. It was still possible to see the nails that held the trim in place, but they had been well covered over in finish and putty. If I had run it through then I would have damaged my planer knives. I was alerted to the problem by Lumber Wizard 5, so I was able to remove the hidden nails and measurably extend the life of my planers! My use of it has been repeated a number of times since then and it has always worked!.

My husband ordered this for work and when the battery stopped working after six months, we contacted the company, and they sent him a new one without any questions. His tools are shared with others, so perhaps it was dropped. My husband is a little puzzled about why it stopped working. Nevertheless, they replaced the defective one right away and we did not need to return it. It is just a pleasure to work with them.
