Questions & Answers

Does anyone have any experience with triggers that leak? It seems like my first nail gun leaked after it stapled 10 staples, and then stopped, but came back again?

It ripped after the first few staples I used. I also just bought the stapler. When I used it for the second time, it ceased to work entirely. Despite owning a number of Bostitch tools, this is the first time I have ever encountered a problem.

What is the best way to staple a carpet runner up my steps with this stapler?

Stapling is a great application for the SX1838K, such as finish, trim, soffits, cabinetry, furniture, and any other application you can think of!

The nail can be used on quarter oak flooring, right?

That would be my answer. As of now, I have not nailed oak with my gun but I have nailed 3/4" pine, 3/4" plywood, and many other materials. Besides thick materials, it can handle other thick materials as well.

You can shoot 1/4" crown staples with this
5/5

It is not clear to me why Bostitch markets this tool as using 7/32" crown staples. However, in metric, the tool is a 6mm crown - and 6mm is somewhere between 7/32" & 32mm. A quarter inch. In addition to Stanley/Black's This exact tool is also sold by Decker (authority that owns Bostitch) under their PorterCable and DeWalt brand names as "1/4" crown" The marketing department. It works perfectly well with the non-MP3 format The crown staples should be 1/4" long. It's easy to use, and I like it. My stapler is well balanced, comfortable to operate, drives consistently across a variety of materials, is easy to load, and is easy to place staples in the right place. Since the whole nose comes apart when you load it, jams can be easily cleared without a tool A lesser amount. As of now, I haven't had any jam. Since I stopped using Bostitch staples, I haven't used staples from this brand. The warranty is decent, there are replacement parts, and there's a shop nearby You can rebuild your system with these kits. For cheap, disposable tools, the only complaint is that it no longer comes with a swivel air fitting (just a straight one), and the hard case it comes in (not a soft one as described) has no place to hold staples of any kind. No staples or other accessories are included. Still, I've been happy with Bostitch air tools in the past, and I would purchase another one.

The extra charge for Senco is worth it
3/5

Senco guns have been in my possession for years, but I wanted a second model to use on the bench with a variety of staples so I wouldn't have to swap between models during the day. As an alternative, I bought this Bostitch because it looked comparable yet far less expensive (the Hitatchi is There is an issue with the nose being too long and sitting too far forward of the staple, making it difficult to work inside of tight spaces. There is no point in adjusting the depth. It takes a screwdriver to turn it and when you get it adjusted, it doesn't alter the shot depth. An extra couple of turns causes the receiver to lock up or the nose to get sticky. It fires 1/4" Porter Cable and Senco staples okay, but sometimes no-fires occurred when Hitatchi staples were used and Dewalt staple guns would not fire after a second shot was fired As far as the Bostitch staples go, I didn't try them since I am very skeptical of the whole "we must use ours" up whatever the lumber yard has on hand, will Lowes still carry them in five Every review I read said it would fire 1/4", so I bought it. However, the gun has a tendency to not fire It may work the same under the new ones, but my 25-year-old Senco shoots anything I put into it and even after being beat to death, it still shoots. I would return this, but I am past the return window since I "gave it some time to get used to". I will probably give it to a weekender and order what I should have ordered in the first place instead.

This is a solid nailer
5/5

Only thing I don't like about this tool is that it is designed to work with 7/32" wide staples, when 1/4" is the most commonly used size. Nevertheless, I think that this is a moot point, as I did manage to buy and fire 1/4" wide staples without any problems whatsoever. To date, I have nailed hundreds of staples without hitting any hiccups.

It's the best stapler you can buy
5/5

When I received this stapler, I loaded it with 1/4 inch crown Senco brand 1 1/2 inch long staples and shot into hard, dry fir as soon as possible. It wasn't a problem at all to sink them all. My first use of Bostitch 5/32 crown staples has yet to happen. There is no need to worry, this is a crown finish stapler 1/4 inch long. The one I bought has a dry fire lockout, which makes it one of the few with this feature. In my opinion, it is quite annoying to constantly check the magazine for what is left, and it is much worse to have to go back and fill in blanks. For this one, you just have to shoot until it stops and then you I like it a lot! Another accessory that I had to have was the belt hook. It was really convenient to have that hook while I nailed a large number of cedar fence boards with stainless steel staples (1/4 inch crown, of course). This stapler does have a tool free jam clearing feature although it varies from most. Instead of unclipping the nose piece and removing the front half, you just open up the magazine and the rear half slides back with it, allowing you to remove It is a nice feature, but I haven't had to use it yet. In addition to this, Oilless is a convenient feature. There is only one con for me, and that Staples can only be added to a small part of the board because the space is very limited. In my opinion, the tool itself deserves a 5-star rating.

I own a cheaper one, and this one is way better
5/5

It is very nice. Put about 10,000 1-inch pictures on the wall A 5-inch staple is placed through it with a half-inch staple Having 10 staples without jams is something to be proud of. Occasionally it seems as though the mechanism that determines which firing mode you're in does not work properly, and you can my picky nature is mostly at work here. I think it's an amazing firearm. In addition, the piston/driver top has been entirely metalized, and the air release is now located towards the back of the gun, near the The impact of a small improvement should not be underestimated. With the old plastic deflector you never have to worry about it getting damaged when dropped (or when using it as a hammer) or getting sprayed with sawdust infused air when you're working. The belt loop should have a double action release as a single action release is prone to being activated by hammer loops or other tools, resulting in a lost belt loop. Once happened to me and twice happened to me.

I like how it turned out
5/5

Behives are mainly constructed with these frames and the initial tacking of the boxes, before the nails are nailed, is its primary use. The Bostitch staples I use never fail or jam and I have yet to experience any problems. My favorite thing about the design is that it's oil free. It's just a matter of attaching the air hose and going.

It's a great stapler that has a lot of When you run stables near the edge, the soft tip makes the process much more comfortable
5/5

This is so helpful when I stapling 1/2 inch plywood, as I do a lot of it when making drawers with 1/4 inch I can also use the depth gauge to avoid poking a hole in the thin plywood sheet. In addition, the auto-stapler does not work well when there is a lot of stapling The trigger is responsible for accelerating the process. I was so amazed how great the little stapler was with all the features I needed.
