Questions & Answers

Can you tell me about the difference in color between ?

It does not make a You can color code the various blocks so you can load them with different grits and see at a glance what each one was used for. In essence.

What is the best way to prep wood clapboards for exterior use?

Whenever I sit down to work on wood, I use this product. If you are using clapboards, it is very likely to work.

Can this be used for sanding the top of a dining table that has a large surface area? How can I sand a large surface so it is perfectly flat and level by hand?

In the past, this would have required a scrub plane followed by a plane with a long sole, but this can be done fairly efficiently with a single hand plane. If you want to verify the levelness of an object in all directions, use a long straight edge like a 4 foot or 6 foot level. I've done it with a belt sander as well, you just have to be very careful and check with a straight edge frequently. After that, use the sanding block to remove any previous scratches and to remove the minor high points. The process requires a lot of time and effort, but it is worth it.

It is a great product Object redesigned from the ground up
5/5

Here is an example where someone had taken a simple item and redesigned it from the ground up, taking care to ensure it works well I was able to achieve a new level of quality in redesigning the tool. The shop I've used has the following features Using cork as a material Other manufactured blocks with rubberized backs or wood backing. Several of the manufactured blocks I've used either have criss-cross cleats that poke a hole in the paper or are screw-and-nut devices The paper is clamped down by holders. There is no real grip on either of them, so the paper tends to tear and loosen as it wears. Moreover, the screws/thumb screws are slow and awkward. Suffice it to say that the paper gets tight around this block due to the tight latching mechanism, and that the size feels good on.

As far as I know, this is the best sanding block I have found
5/5

I have now bought two of these in the last few weeks. It's great to have them! The blocks are longer and heavier than most of the cheaper plastic sanding blocks, both of which are positives in my book. They are longer and heavier so they sand larger flat surfaces better, and the added weight makes them more stable when sanding (the plastic ones will tend to get pushed over when they grab the wood). These seem to be much more durable than the cheaper plastic ones, which break more easily when dropped. In addition, they can also be used to hold strips of sandpaper of standard size. It is much better to use this item if you sand a great deal, as the sandpaper has been designed so that when you sand it lengthwise, you roll it over the edges of the direction you sand. As a rule, I hold a sanding block so that my fingers are on both sides of the narrower end, and I sand in the direction of the longer end. There are a lot of cheap plastic sanding blocks that come with hand holds so that what I consider a "normal" sanding motion of forward and backward is actually moving against the side edge instead of the edge of If there is a splinter in the edge of the sandpaper, then it tends to catch on the edge and either tear the paper or pull up a splinter from In a couple of weeks' time, I'll use it for a few more weeks and, if there are no problems, I'll buy one for each grit.

There is a need for this- The first thing I wondered was why I had waited so long to buy this item? It's a hobby of mine to faff about with wood projects (kill time)
5/5

So after spending nearly 8 months on a wooden surfboard, I wasn't going to trust the 'block sanding' method of going with a belt paper stapled to a block of wood (as I did I figure it might be better to spend the money on a tool that will allow me to complete the task. The answer is yes. This is an easy to use tool, and I've put it through three The sticky back paper from 3M, a regular sheet of paper off the shelf, and wet sandpaper in various grits were all used. It takes less than a minute to install the paper cut, open the clamps, give the paper a little roll (or double lip), clamp one side, pull tight, and clamp the other side. You'll be satisfied with the ease and simplicity of the process. A picture of wet sanding polyester resin and dry sanding with sheet paper can be seen in the drawing.

I've never owned such a high quality sanding block! I've never owned such a high quality sanding block! It was so much fun to use that I'm going to buy a few more in different colors to hold different grit papers to reduce the time I spend changing them out
5/5

Would have been better off if I'd bought this Several different designs always appeared on my blocks, and I always made them myself. This block, however, contains a rubberized pad on the bottom, which allows for more forgiveness during sanding as well as a softer sanding on the corners. Additionally, the weight of the block as well as its comfort are nice features. It doesn't matter if you need to sand fast or flat -- these blocks work well for both!.

This is a great product
5/5

I have been searching for a rigid product. It has been an ongoing quest for years that I was unable to find a rigid sanding block that would allow for ease of installation or removal of sand paper - this is perfect! I think this is a perfect match for the description. I will be shopping for more sandpaper despite the fact that placing and removing it are quick and easy. In addition to using four grits of sandpaper regularly, I intend to get one for each commonly used grit. You can also use Norton sand paper in different colors to correspond with different grits On blue paper, 80 grit, 100 grit, 150 grit, and 220 grit are used, while red paper is used for 100 and 150 grit. This is what I am trying to say, I think.

Sanding block of excellent quality
5/5

My wife and I have been using this for sanding wood for about a year now, and we love it! I've used sanding blocks with sharp pins that are similar to the rubbery kind with which it is attached to (the size is often 2 3/4 by 5). Several of the problems with these blocks are solved with this block. There are those that take 1/3 of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet in the short direction, and there are those that take 1/4 in the long direction" In most cases, all of those materials are tucked into sanding blocks and are The sheets get sanded longer because more sanding can be done. Changing out paper is a breeze, and both levers make it easy to attach paper tightly, no matter how thick or thin the paper is.

I wasted a few pieces of In comparison to other sanding blocks I have used, this one gives you more area to sand on
5/5

It does not waste much sandpaper either. Only about an inch of it doesn't get used for sanding, which is about half what you put in it. Moreover, I don't get stabbed by spikes, as I do with The sandpaper is also easy to install in it, and it holds well when it is wet. I'm sorry that I didn't find out about it earlier.

The tool is good
5/5

One of these has served me well for years, so I purchased another so that I can switch from one grit to another without Four is the minimum you should have if you can. You will enjoy sanding more if you create 'color codes' in your mind to indicate what grit is what. My Festool sander helps me to sand things quickly, but sometimes it just has to be done by hand. This last grit is especially important.
