The Pliers had started to rust after only one month in the drawer when I opened it in early October. It's more than just surface rust. Once the tarnish has set in, it can't be removed. My question was addressed by Tekton Customer Service and they informed me that these tools need to be kept oiled and greased, otherwise they will rust, and who on earth wants to work with greasy tools? A replacement would not be honored by the representative. I'm all about rusty junk!.
My toolbox needed channel locks, and I wanted some made in the United States. It's okay for me to use some tools from China, but I prefer American products like channel locks and screwdrivers while I have the opportunity to. It appears that the tolerances on these are in the right place and there is It is not easy to disengage but they also don't catch and can be frustrating to open up to. It is as easy as turning in a ratchet at one of the Ace Hardware stores). This is a great price. I do wish it came with one more size bigger, but I can get it separately so it is no big deal for me.
The quality control took me a while to understand. The quality is out of this world! Just recently, I went to a nationally known department store where they sell their own brand of products. Based on my comparison of the quality of the 2, I believe the Tekton brand, ALSO MADE IN THE USA, and with a lifetime warranty, is superior to the others. It was difficult to understand the quality control of the Channel lock brand in this size wrench, as it was sloppy in the grooves/ linkage, and the tips did not The machining, stamping, and other processes are poor. Meanwhile Tekton, on the other hand, did a great job on it, as well as so many other high-quality items they offer. Please read this information, Ideally, I would like to see your brand expanded into more complete socket/mechanical tool kits like Sears, since I cannot see Sears remaining in business forever, and someone will need to step up and take over the helm. In contrast to 150/200/300 piece kits, you have a limited selection of larger tool sets with only sleeves of sockets. By following this advice, you will increase the awareness of your brand.
In my business I mostly work on plumbing repairs, so I bought these in 8", 10", and 12" sizes. None of them worked on my current project, so I bought these. I've learned that having the right tool for the job can save you a lot of time! I choose to use Tekton pliers only, as they are very well made, smooth, and stay perfectly in the groove I choose. These are excellent for anyone involved with large pipes and connections -- they will not let you down!.
Those who intend to use it for daily purposes in a serious way should not consider it. Instead of being tied together with hot rivets as Channellock pliers are, they are bolted together. I have had to tighten them a lot because of this. Aside from that, they are very It wouldn't be as bad if the profile were thinner. In the end, it's not bad, but I wouldn't recommend it. There are plenty of other options. Equivalents of Knipex and Channellock should be purchased.
For use on the job, I picked them up to keep in a tool bag. The Channellock 426 6 1/2" and 428 8" I keep at home for my tool bag are both very decent. The pictures are all pleasing to the eye. This Tekton 7" is more solid and heavy than the Channellock 6 1/2", and it has a wider jaw than the former. As a result, the Tekton is not as heavy or as strong as a Channellock 8". It also has narrower jaws. Tekton and Channellock are both smoother to use than the latter. The Channellock 428 8" would be my choice if I had to choose one of the three for the work I usually do. Channellock 426 6 1/2" would be my choice if I had to choose one for smaller work. There have been a number of Tekton tools I've purchased on Amazon, and I've been pleased with all of them so far. As a result of the rough action, I rated it 4 stars instead of 5.
This is a nice pair of pliers made in the United States. are pivots that are equipped with a nut like the old channel locks. That brings back some nostalgic feelings, but I don't see it as a pro or a It works well, they have a great finish, and their teeth grip well. The handles have a nice rubberized texture as well.
The only way to tell if this is durable is to wait and see. With my force on it, I would guess I applied around 200 lbs. Fear of breaking is nonexistent when held. Nevertheless, it is tough steel as well. As far as failures go, I would not expect to feel anything. I am happy with its performance for the price I paid.
