You don't seem to be able to do so, in my opinion.

Is the string resistant to UV rays?

It doesn't say anything about it on the label, but I've used it to lay out pole barns and all I can say is that it's green and that it sags when wet, but it's well made and tough.

When compared to HD or Lowes, this is a great deal

You can buy a single roll of string line for around $9 at HD or Lowes, or you can buy a pack of six here for around $5 per roll, which is a great deal! They also stretch well, but not as much as a twisted line; I like that they are not as stiff as some of the heavier ones.
