The tweezers are extremely useful. The storage tubes are made of plastic and have a twist-on cap that is difficult to remove and replace.
For me: br>Back in 1991, the originals were neither "scalpel sharp" nor "cutting-oriented." The edge, especially near the point, was very well defined. br>I placed an 'Amazon' order from a number of different sellers, some of whom were 3-star rated. Individual packs with varying degrees of quality arrived as individual packs (same price = no problem). br>It is usable in its current state.
CON: br>Not in the same way that the originals were. As shown in the photos, the top is made of plastic rather than metal. br>Instead of being smooth, the inner of the tips are crosshatched with some micro burs. br>The tips of the "Points" have a slight overhang that must be removed (via polishing device, as sanding is not an option). br>I received three singles, which may be preferable for some.
PRO: br>These are properly aligned; br>Fixes will necessitate more precision than effort. br>Mine, which consists of three singles, may be suitable for some. br>Pricing, as they all appear to have a silvery plastic top/cap. br>There were no issues with the seller, and the transaction was simple and straightforward.
For the past 35 years, I've been purchasing these. The original concept was much better. While they appear to be identical, the points are no longer ground, and there is no key ring clip. I'm still glad I bought them, but they make me long for the original.
To catch the splinter, the tips are bent inwards into tiny teeth. These tweezers are nearly useless for anything else UNTIL the teeth wear off or are flattened, because the tips are optimized for splinters. These make a great tweezer for almost any personal use once the bent tips have been flattened. So save your old tweezers for other tweezer tasks and save your new ones for splinters.
I have a vintage one that has always worked flawlessly. I bought three more as part of a three-pack, but the ends are defective, rendering the tweezers useless for hair pulling. I believe they can be repaired, but I will never purchase another pair.
These little gems have long been a favorite of mine. In the house, the car, and the woodshop, keep multiples of them in their plastic tubes on hand. They're simple to use, sharpened to perfection, and a great example of how a creative designer can improve even the most basic of tools like tweezers. Also, the price is fantastic. The items were delivered quickly and in excellent condition.
I bought these because they claimed to be good for small hairs in the advertisement. My wife enjoys plucking hairs with tweezers, and these appeared to be a good match. Well, she went back to her regular slant tweezers, so these wound up in splinter first aid kits (possibly their intended use). However, it only receives three stars because it does not pluck hairs as thoroughly as it should.
It's excellent for catching stray hairs. *Chin* or *eyebrows* - with pinpoint accuracy! To remove threads left after removing hems and seams in the sewing room, this is an excellent tool to use. These were purchased as extra Christmas presents/stocking stuffers! Everyone, men and women alike, requires one or two of these (one for the bathroom, one for the car, one for the pocket, and one for the purse)! High-quality and made in the United States of America!.
I was let down. Thirty years ago, we used to sell these in our hardware store. Made in the United States, they were precision ground. I couldn't grip brow hairs in 2021 because there was a gap at the tip of these tweezers. Is it possible that they are now manufactured in China?.
