Having wedges made from solid steel instead of some light metal garbage would be much appreciated.
Anything that has a handle made of wood, including hammers, axes, mauls, sledges, and anything else, can be secured. The first axe I ever had was well over 30 years old. The aluminum main wedge was removed, and the oak wedge was put in. Using these retaining wedges to lock in main wood wedge when installing a new handle on a head will prevent the wood from shifting. This wedge should be installed with linseed oil. IMO it is better to fix wood to get a new handle or to replace a cheap fiberglass part. You can find a great 3 part video out there showing you how to.
Multiple sizes for multiple tools are included in this package. That will be a very useful resource.
Quite a few wedges to choose from. To make repairs, I like to keep a variety of tools on hand. The only reason I gave four stars is because they do not appear to be zinc-plated. It is much easier for those to rust if they are zinc plated.
play around with fixing hatchets, axes, old sledges and hammers a lot. Even though I may have a high count, I will never run out of supplies.
There is no point in buying A nice assortment of goods. I quickly added a large number of hammers as well as ax handles. Setting them is straightforward because they are not thin and are capable of being thrown by a hand sledge.
We have a wide variety of wedge sizes to choose from. I had some loose handles on some tools. I was able to fix it easily and quickly.
So far I have used a few wedges, and what I have used works.
I found them to be smaller than I had expected.
