In contrast to their predecessors, the "light duty" clamps of the new version are not as nice as those of the previous version. There are some older versions that I have and they are more study than the new ones I just got. Generally, it seems that they are of lower quality than the old ones. The strange thing is that the new ones claim to have a clamping force of 140 pounds, but the older ones are rated at 100 pounds. There is nothing more irritating than a company doing this to me. The purpose of doing this is to make a little extra profit by lowering the price of a good product. Those with rubber pads in the jaws of the clamp in the old version are easy to identify because their rubber pads are yellow. With the new ones, the pads are black. am considering keeping these instead of returning them because I got a great deal on My next purchase of a clamp will be from Jorgensen.
It's held on the END of the clap by a nut and screw! It was broken when it arrived. I paid for 6 handclaps and got just 5. Buyer beware the heavy plastic package required me to cut it into pieces to the point of sending it back useless it was late getting here and then arrived broken very unhappy will not buy this product or seller again. I was surprised that the package was so large with almost no filling and my product shook around inside in the box, leading me to believe that the product had been damaged.
I am satisfied with these clamps and they work just as described. Due to a poor reading of the posting, I am unable to respond. It never occurred to me that Irwin sold different grades of clamps, and I didn't realize these would be lightweight clamps. Initially, I thought that the clamps would be the same as the heavy duty 12" clamps I already had, which allow the clamp end to be detached and flipped. However, there are a couple of noteworthy differences in grip strength and nice extra features which make them more enjoyable to use.
My collection of IRWIN QUICK-SHOT film includes some older models I have GRIP Bar Clamps, and when I compare them to this brand new model, the differences are clear. Obviously the newer model is a bit of a bargain and would not hold up to rigorous use in a professional environment. Fortunately, my usage of this tool is very light since I use it to repair and make small repairs only occasionally. That they lowered the quality of the product is not surprising. It's sad that companies have to reduce quality in order to survive.
It works as it should. On the market, you can find many products similar to this one for a lower price. It only makes sense for the price to be lowered a little more, given the simplicity of the construction. I have not encountered any problems with performance. A key feature of this product is that there are no teeth on the main shaft. By doing this, you can put whatever level of strength you need on your project, rather than being limited by the size of your teeth.
When the clamps arrived, they were packaged in the standard retail packaging, which was a horribly cut-resistant blister pack that would have cut you if you had even looked at it wrong while trying to open it.
I received mine with both nuts missing on the 12" clamps, so the bolts holding down the fixed jaw just snapped off. If I have to return these, I think I'll buy nuts so that I won't have to re-pack them into the dumb blister pack. Other than that, it seems like a decent The glass is as smooth as glass A strong plastic body, solid metal bars, and a softer plastic jaw are used on the clamps. The molding is good and the edges are not sharp.
Since they are compact, they are easy to keep out of the way of my circular saw, as opposed to my old bar clamps, which have to be positioned just so (and I should have made the cutting guides.
Clamps are a necessity that can never be overstated. The bar clamps are well suited to any kind of work in the workshop at home. A number of wooden projects can be held together with them. am unable to imagine how these clamps would be used for any real projects. Although, as has already been stated, you can never have too many Those will certainly come in handy in the future. It is typical for the Irwin brand to make quality products. I was impressed with the clamps' quality. The only thing I would criticize was that the process of changing the clamp into a spreader was not clearly outlined. In spite of this, anyone who is capable of seeing a problem and solving it analytically will have no trouble solving it.
