Initially, I purchased the IRWIN QUICK-REPAIR SYSTEM. GRIP 1964758 GRIP 1964758 GRIP 1964758 GRIP 1964758 G So I bought two of these IRWIN-HANDED MINI Bar Clamp 4 Pack. QUICK- GRIP Clamp Coupler for Medium-Density Polyethylene (Medium-Density Polyethylene 1964750 - Duty Clamps I had no idea that Medium-sized was a thing. The MINI Bar Clamp does not accept Duty Clamps. I didn't realize there was a distinction between being new to this and using Irwin tools until recently. I'm just trying to prevent newcomers from making the same mistakes I did.
For the most part, it meets the needs of the average person. Adding flex to the combined length of the clamps by doubling their length with this adapter. Pipe clamps are the way to go if you need clamps that are 24 inches or longer and have a "strong" clamping force. Again, they perform admirably, but the single 24in clamp's claimed clamping force of 300 pounds is seriously questioned when used in tandem with this adapter. It adds a lot of wiggle room.
These couplers allow two clamps to work together rather than buying longer clamps. They're made of plastic, so there's some give to them; they're not bad, but metal couplers would have been preferable. It is a good deal.
This item does not fit the heavy duty or regular clamps, at least not easily, and I find it completely useless; it sits in a drawer. Don't be a cheap skate and buy a clamp that is the size you need; I ended up having to do so anyway, and as an authentic cheap skate, I can tell you that I hated wasting the money on this piece of junk!.
