Questions & Answers

Is this capable of ripping a 2x4?

No, I doubt you could rip the 2x4 because of the clamp's footprint on the 2x4 and the saw blade's offset.

Is it possible to use cordless circular saws in this situation?

Yes, most circular saws, whether corded or cordless, will fit. Please contact us directly at [email protected] if you have any further questions. com. Thanks!

Is it possible to remove the clamps and screw the guide to the outside of the house in order to get straight cuts when removing sheathing?

This item should not be used in this manner.

Is this item compatible with the Makita XPS01PTJ?

No, I don't believe so. I'd stick to the Makita route. Bora serves as a straight edge for me.

If you play to your strengths, this is an excellent system
4/5

It's been difficult for me to write this review - This system has a lot of advantages, but it also has some disadvantages. I gave it four stars because the flaws aren't deal breakers for me, and I tend to use it in a way that maximizes its benefits, but it could easily have been a three-star product. a 5-star rating br>br>Let's start with the bad news: If you're looking for a reason not to buy this system, or if you plan to use it frequently in any of the following ways, you should probably pass. br>br>First and foremost, while the circular saw plate can be used with almost any saw, it works best with a blade-type saw. left saw. I'm a 7-year-old girl who likes to play video games. 1/4" cordless direct drive with blade It doesn't fit as easily as my 6-footer does in the right configuration. blade (1/2") Second, the extension rail is a real pain. br>br>It's either a left saw or a corded worm drive. br>br> It has four small screws that are easily lost and must be removed, set aside, and reinstalled after the rail sections have been joined. There are no replacement screws included with the system. After it's been put together, place it on an 8-inch square of cardboard. foot- It's aggravating and time-consuming to work on a lengthy project. Because the rails will not automatically line up straight where they join, keep a tape measure and 4-foot length of rail handy. Use a foot level to keep the two rail sections aligned until you're ready to cut and tighten the main rail's handle. It won't move once that's done, but getting it set up can be a pain. br>br>However, if you're working with a blade, you should be aware of the following: If you don't mind finagling the plate onto your blade, use the left saw. This thing is a dream if you only work on pieces that are 4 feet long or less (so you don't have to join rails), and if you only work on pieces that are 4 feet long or less (because you don't have to join rails). It's less expensive than a panel saw (especially if you already have a good circular) and more portable than a table saw, takes less time to set up than most table saw fences, and cuts perfectly every time. Because that's how I use it, this is a four-star review. For me, this is a five-star product. Your mileage will vary depending on your needs.

It's easy to cut plywood sheets with this tool
5/5

My expectations for this saw guide were not met. We needed to replace the skirting on our vacation cabin, and I was stumped as to how I was going to cut straight lines on a dozen pieces of 3/4" plywood in the middle of the forest 50 miles from my shop. I'm known for deviating from a straight line with my circular saw when making free hand cuts, so I wasn't looking forward to ripping a dozen pieces of plywood that all seemed to end up with the saw running down the center of the sheet. The Bora guide and a couple of saw horses were enough to get the job done. You can easily cut an 8' sheet of plywood by attaching the extension with four screws. By making two passes with the cuts intersecting, I was able to make both straight and shallow angle cuts. A few thoughts. br>br> I put the extension together to make a 100" guide and left it that way for the duration of the project. I'm not sure how well it would hold up to repeated set-ups and tear-downs, and it's a bit awkward to transport fully assembled at 100". For storage, I used a 6' piece of 4" PVC with a screw cap on one end to hold the disassembled guide; also, a pair of standard saw horses will cause the piece to bow when you cut it, and even with the guide, expect your blade to bind unless you get some extra support. br>br>When I first got it, the clamps drove me crazy because they'd lock and were nearly impossible to unlock, until I discovered that I could just insert a flat head br>br>I also realized that, because the saw can work loose, I needed to check the sled at the start of each day. This is the most aggravating aspect of it all. Because the saw fits on the sled, which rides on the guide, the blade is offset by about an inch and a half from the guide, so you'll need to adjust your guide accordingly. Once your saw is mounted on the sled, it can move over time, allowing you to 1. The number 5" can easily be converted to one. 75" or the saw can become misaligned and cut at an angle to the guide; I quickly learned that double-checking the offset on each cut was a good idea. You can always use the guide as a fence without the sled if the sled becomes too frustrating, but there's something to be said for not having to hunch over your saw while cutting. This would be an ideal tool if the guide could be attached at the true cut line without having to worry about the saw/sled aligning. Nonetheless, I gave it five stars because it provided me with straight cuts, which can be avoided if you are aware of the offset issue.

It's terrifying how bad the design is! To begin with, it is not universal
3/5

My old Craftsman corded saw, as well as two Ryobi cordless saws, would not fit on the base properly. Even if they did, I would have returned it as garbage. 1) The base is not designed to be used with its own track. With a cheap piece of plastic and two screws on the bottom of the plate, you can adjust it to fit. Because everyone knows that when you turn a screw, the material moves, you'll have to flip it over and try again. br>2) The tracks were not universal in size; mine were off by over a sixteenth of an inch, resulting in binding in some areas and scary wiggle in others. br>3) The saw plate is held in place by pointed set screws. dangerous and foolish When you tighten them, the saw plate is pushed away from the stops. Your saw will no longer be square to the fence if one of them is tighter than the other. br>4) The saw plate clamps are made of cheap plastic that is interlocked with more cheap plastic that has several cutouts. Once again, stupid and dangerous. I clamped a saw in each of the two clamps and pushed it down the track. One of the clamps came loose and flew all over the shop. The saw was not turned on; it was simply being tested for its ability to move. br>5) the entire kit arrived unsecured in a cheap box that had burst open when it arrived. There was no packing material present in any way. There's nothing to keep the straight edges from getting twisted, bent, or damaged. 6) One rail's clamp worked perfectly, but the other did not. I'm not sure if this was a mistake on the part of the manufacturer or if it was damaged during shipping. It makes no difference to me. br>br>returning everything to its original box and receiving my money.
