It's a Spear and Jackson telescoping pole saw/pruner combination (from Sheffield, UK) that I've recently used to cut down about six tree branches. Using a hand pruner, I can't even cut the same branch it produces a cut that is more than 1 inch wide. Although the saw is an important part of this set, it is not the best part. The saw arrives detached from the pole, so you have to make it attached using a wingnut on top of the screw (that holds the saw in place). There is no way to prevent the saw from moving since it is only held in place by a screw/nut and a small piece of metal that fits into a hole. A windy day with blowing winds of 10+ mph makes it impossible to operate a saw(especially on a tree), since it moves about too much. In my experience I have only used the saw a couple of times (the first time it was windy and I had to finish sawing off the branch on another day) and I prefer using it at its most basic function You have to use a ladder to reach 20 foot high branches. It's possible to extend the pole (by simply moving a lever) up to about 10 feet, but this isn't always sufficient. By using the "hook" you catch (hold on to) the branch, but when the blade cuts through it the pole often falls straight to the ground and you have to let go of the rope/cord and grab it with both hands before it hits the ground. I use gloves to help me grip the pole better, as it is smooth on the outside.
The performance was very good. It is a blade of sharpness. As a result of the pulley rope, I was able to pull down and cut over an inch-diameter limbs from the This is a very well-crafted item.
Since I bought it, this trimmer has already paid for itself. The trees that are on my neighbor's property hang over into my yard. He had his work cut out for him. Having a tree cutter cut my trees would have been twice the price I paid.
Finding it unruly when extended, it was not great for extended use. The bigger issue is that you can see the blade snapped off after around 6 months. I am unable to recommend it or give a better review since I only used it for a few days before the blade snapped.
The ancient apple tree I ordered was in need of pruning. This is one of the best tools. A saw blade is a waste of time, in my opinion. Whatever you can fit in, sharp blades will cut right through. Even when fully extended, the display is easy to read.
Trimmed a 20ft apple tree with branches less than 2 inches in diameter. As the saw is flimsy, you should pay attention as to how you are using it or it could bend So, you get an ok tree pruner for $49 bucks. It's a little heavy and hard to hold.
This tool is easy to use and very sharp. However, it could be.
It is the perfect trimmer for me. This knife is very strong and cuts very well.
