My auger is 43 inches long from tip to handle, according to my measurements. I dug 18-inch-deep holes with my auger. It was a fantastic success. Without a doubt, the ability to turn the auger handle as it gets closer to the ground diminishes, but I am confident that if I had wanted to dig a two-foot hole, I could have done so. br>I've used standard post hole diggers before, but what I like about this auger is that it produces a hole that is nearly perfect in shape - Approximately 6 inches in length
I'd say it's around 6 inches. Because the shaft makes it impossible to measure through the very center, it's possible that it's 6. AND THIS PRODUCT HAS WORKED EXTREMELY WELL FOR ME - 5 INCHES OR THEREABOUTS It's about a 1000 times better than a post hole digger, in my opinion.
4 in. for the bitbr>4 in. for the post hole
No, you won't be able to add extensions.

It's a one-of-a-kind tool, to say the least. Because I'm working in a sensitive area, I'm using a hand-held post hole digger. I'm nervous because the area where I'm working has a high risk of an unpleasant surprise; however, by digging by hand, I have complete control over the process, which I can do slowly and carefully. This tool makes a difficult task much easier, and it appears to be much more efficient than the clamshell type that I also own. br>Tool is good for 38/39"- Where I live, the frost line is 42", but I'm sure I can get away with 3". I believe the clamshell has similar limitations. br>At the end of the day, it's a useful tool that I'd purchase again.
It is extremely effective. The only drawback is that you have to scrape the clay off if you're digging post holes in clay dirt (which a couple of the holes we had to dig were), but other than that it was a lot easier than using a traditional 'big tweezer' post hole digger. We're so glad we learned about it!.
If you want to return something, don't buy it because you won't be able to.
This auger has a 6 inch diameter and did an excellent job digging a post hole. I have a large fenced yard and keep this tool on hand for minor repairs and digging that does not require many post holes. This was an excellent value for the money.
It is light in weight. The burden of thought would be heavier if the cost was higher.
Very well-made!.
Anyone thinking about buying an "American" post hole digger is a fool. I'm not sure why they still make "ground tweezers" that you can buy at the home improvement store when this is so much easier to use.
Very good auger. It's difficult to come by a post hole digger of this type. This one is well-made, with a sturdy handle that can withstand the torque required for effective use.
