Questions & Answers

Can you tell me the lengths of these loppers when not extended and when fully extended? My jaw dropped when I read this information. ?

18 inches are the length of the arm unextended. If the arm is extended, it measures 31 and 1/2" inches and the distance between the near end of the handle and the cutting edge is 6 and 1/2 inches. Look at the answers in the previous posts, they must have a tool different from mine or I can't read tape measurements. The arms of my tool are made of In spite of its hardness, I used it for cutting a piece of cherry that was 1 and 1/2 inches long. *br>The arms were extended and twisted as I did it. There was no chance of it working so I used a lot of force and probably should have realized this. As far as I can remember, I have used it for the same size green wood and it worked

How thick can a branch be cut by it? It does not specifically state. ?

It can theoretically cut branches up to 2' long since the jaws open about 2" wide. The measurement, however, is taken at the absolute end of the A part of the leg will be placed closer to the closed end of the 'vee' in practice. In this case, the cut will be about 2' short. Branches that I've actually caught and cut don't go to the exact size that I estimate, but at least some were 1 12' or greater The loppers will cut a limb so long as they can pick up a hold on It is great to have them!

Do you know where this product is ?

In the paperwork you received with the looper, you should find this information.

If you are joining small branches, say 1" or smaller, how many cranks (not sure if that is the correct term) does it take for both jaws of the clamp to meet? Could you please answer my question?

In order to make one cut, it takes 6 minutes The bigger the branch, the fewer movements it requires.

There is something AWKWARD AWKWARD about that
3/5

I have returned the previous ratcheting loppers I had because they are VERY awkward. The tabs must be opened in another way before you can use them for the next cut, then unless you are cutting a LARGE limb you have to click twice to open them A small limb needs to be repeated three times for them to grasp it. This must be done before trying to replace them on the limb, with the exception that if they don't stay in place you will have to remove them completely from the limb, open them completely to reset the ratchet mechanism, then replace it on the Having said all that, when I finally do make the cut and get everything correct, the service I received was of high quality. When I bought these, I thought they would be better than the brand I previously owned, and they are, but when it takes me 5 minutes to make 1 cut compared to 30 seconds per cut with the "cheaper" brand, I plan to purchase another pair of the cheaper brand.

Works well on wood that is still green
5/5

Exactly what I was looking for! Using the jaws I have been able to cut any green wood in my hands. The storm we had in October hit a temperate rain forest where I live. As a result of this, I was able to cut the branches of the downed cherry laurels for burning in the wood stove or on the open fire. However, our thirty-plus years of service doesn't come at the cost of My son recently came to help with something. Into one of the privets was a fallen oak branch that was way too high for me to pull out by myself, so I asked him to do It was unfortunate that he was unaffected by the branch's response. A loud crack was heard and the ratchet failed to move. He would no longer close the door. As I looked closer, I noticed that several small bolts were loose and that a small lever was at an angle, so I moved it straight again, and it ratcheted! I meant, the only thing that is closed is that it won't open! My first contact was with Spear & Spear The request for a schematic came directly from Jackson. My cable box will not repair itself, they say, and I should return it to Amazon, as it appears no one has a process (apparently) for making good on the five-year Upon hearing back from the company, I will update. THE UPDATE IS A replacement set was shipped express mail from GB to replace the loppers. I'm so excited! The April 2021 update is not yet available. A lot of work has been done with this tool! In addition, we learned not to cut too large a branch with it, and not to open the ratchet handle all the way when pulling (it opens wide again once ratcheted). As long as I had ten stars, I'd give it a ten.

Replace our four-cylinder engine with a decent one Our tool of choice since years we use anvil loppers from Trail Blazer for cutting any medium-sized surface It can also be young saplings, even if they are small sized branches
4/5

I used them to cut stuff in the 1/2"-3" range and found them to be excellent. Though we may have finally overdone it in terms of the hardness of the wood and thickness of the limbs we tried to remove, because the loppers It hasn't worked for many years and we haven't been able to fix it yet. It was the discovery that they no longer make them that disappointed me the most. The Trail Blazer appeared to be very similar in appearance to a couple of options, so we decided to give this Spear & Arrow a try We recognize it as our old favorite limb lopper since its cutting head is almost identical to it. In terms of the handle telescoping extensions, the most significant difference is present. While the Trail Blazer's button mechanism is directly on each handle (about midway), this Spear & Arrow's is situated more in the center, near the finger hole. It has a twisted end in the Jackson version. A cap that allows the handles to be telescopic. For me, the Trail Blazer ones are much easier to extend with the simple button and slide. When wearing protective gloves while trimming, it can be a bit tricky to turn the end caps, both to extend the handles and to lock them in place again. Like the old anvil loppers, this one by Spear & Parker can be used for all kinds of things To complete a cut with Jackson, you have to pump the handle four times. There might seem to be no benefit in those four pumps, but they are part of the ratcheting action that allows you to cut larger branches more easily than you could with a single compression cutter. Consequently, I use other pruners for the easy jobs and save the 4-inch pruner for the hard ones Whenever you have jobs that are too hard for a standard pruner but not big enough to drag out the chainsaw, use the pump anvil lopper.

This heavy duty pruning tool is designed to handle Lopper with a razor-sharp edge
5/5

The leverage of this tool allows for powerful pruning and cutting of limbs The loppers are heavy duty and well built. I had a pair of loppers that were lighter and looked like these that I bought from Tractor Supply (that didn't last long) They were a big hit with me! Tractor Supply did not have them any longer when I returned and I was disappointed, but I am happy to have found these on Amazon since they are built much better and the cutting head is a little larger than the ones I purchased from Tractor Supply. There's no doubt I bought a replica of these when I first bought them. Please take note of the following During a home improvement project, a neighbor of mine tried to cut with a pair of my original scissors and broke them by yanking on the handles up and down. Do not force the tool to work, but only move the handles together as if it were a pair of.

A strong and solid structure Deadwood trimming is an excellent use for this chopping tool
5/5

The loppers are excellent and I am very satisfied. Many years ago, I bought a similar pair from Lee Valley, and these seem to be just as sturdy and well-made as those I made it. There's only one difference between the two - the handles There are twist and lock positions on these as opposed to the Lee Valley ones which had click stops on the extension. There is no clear winner when it comes to adjusting the handle length, but the twist and lock features offer more flexibility. Aside from the ratchet action, the blade is sharp and stout enough to last for years. The blade is sharp and stout enough to make quick work of large branches. There is a downside to this heavy-weight approach It takes a bit of effort to construct a heavy duty product. It is not ungainly in the least If an adult has even moderate upper body strength, then they should not have any problems using them It's fair trade-off, but you feel the weight after using them for a long time. Since I'm much more willing to put up with a bit of weight when the tool lasts for many years versus a lighter weight tool that breaks quickly, I'm not concerned with size. Moreover, I do not have a single complaint. It is essential to have this tool when trimming deadwood.
