use on butt joints since it covers wide I'm not an expert when it comes to finishing drywall, but I'm a DIYer as well. used it to apply the final swipe onto the middle of the butt joints after I laid down the joint compound and was tapering it. Because of its width, I was comforted knowing it wouldn't leave ridges on the wall. There is a fair bit of rigidity here, which is excellent. After I dropped it on the concrete floor, I realized The corner of the apple was only slightly bent(. The function did not appear to be affected. Because its depth is so short, this will probably be rigid, too. If it's going to have a lot of compound, however, it won't work for it. In contrast, there is a little ridge on the handle that reduces the movement of the compound. As soon as I can finish my 2200 square foot basement, I won't know what to do with this space. It may be useful as a backup defensive weapon at home if it is sharpened.
As of the time of my initial review, I've had the opportunity to use the HOGARD tapeing knife and everything I described about the quality of the product holds true. Although I initially thought that the single handle would not be sufficient for such a long blade, the product performed admirably, including when using lots of drywall compound to overcompensate for an inefficient shim job and filing and taping uneven sheets of drywall.
According to the advertisement, that is what is offered. It would have been better if the unit had been a little stiffer due to its size. In order to skim across a large area, you need to put so much pressure on it that you dish the middle. In a way, it would work better with a more prominent crown, like a usual skimming blade.
Had I been able to take a picture, that would've been nice. The blade was considerably damaged, about half of it was burred. A straight edge went across it and I found it was not straight on one side. It thus proved to be useless for my drywall compound project.
Low spots were clearly visible in the map because it was wide enough. Since Amazon had it, I was able to find a dry wall knife with that wide of a blade. A knife with this wide of a blade was never available locally.
This tool does not rust! Worth the time and effort. This is a great product.
There are so many advantages in using a 24" tapering/mudding knife, as opposed to one 14". As a man, I'd probably agree that 10 extra inches are a good thing however, in real life I'd have to say that the extra 10 inches really sped up mudding of.
At the end stages of my project (when all the detailing was completed), this taping knife helped my exterior look as dirty-free as possible! I was able to see all the finishes, and everything looked so slick! If you ask me, it was well worth the purchase.
