Questions & Answers

Will I be able to use this to seal attic solar tubes and will it hold up to high temperatures? It may get hotter than 120 degrees, but I'm not sure. ?

I've used this tape to seal HVAC ductwork, A/C evaporator furnace boxes, vent sealing, and HVAC system sealing to keep bugs, dust, dirt, and other contaminants out while also preventing hot and cold air leaks. br>The key to successfully using this product is to ensure that all of the surfaces you intend to use it on are clean. The key, once again, is to keep the surface areas clean. br>In addition, the A/C evaporator box that I have sealed was originally installed in the attic of my own home in Phoenix, Arizona. In the summer, it doesn't get much hotter in an attic than it does in Phoenix, Arizona. Anyway, I never had any problems with this tape peeling off, falling off, etc., and I actually used it to cover the evaporator/furnace box after replacing a leaky evaporator drip pan on the unit. br>Several years later, I needed to replace the fan motor condenser (electrical part), and when I dismantled the evaporator/furnace box unit, the tape was still as sticky as it had been when I first put it together. br>As far as using this on solar tubes goes, I'd give it a shot. Solar tubes are fancy little skylights with a tube that directs light from the source, through your attic space, and into your home's desired living area. br>If all you want to do is seal off the tube that's basically in your attic space, I'd say go for it. Simply ensure that all of your surfaces are free of debris. br>However, DO NOT use this product to seal off the dome assembly that is already installed on your roof. A hole must be cut in your roof for the dome assembly item, which must then be sealed to your roof structure with tar type sealing goop, just like any other vent stack, furnace stack, etc. br>Again, if all you want to do is seal the actual tube type duct work that runs vertically in the attic space, this will be more than enough to keep hot/cold air drafts, dust, bugs, and other pests out of your home. br>I went to 3M for the first time. I went to com and found this application information, which I have copied and pasted below for your convenience. Scotch® Aluminum Foil Tape 3311 Silver, 2 in x 50 yards 3. Is it electrically conductive on both sides, i.e. will it conduct through the tape?

I did a quick test and it passed. two pieces of tape that were stuck together to tape one side- There is no conductivity between the sides, according to the multimeter.

Is it possible to be waterproof?

In order to make an informed decision about whether or not a product is waterproof, it is recommended that you research what the UL 723 rating means.

Will this tape stick to the inside of a refrigerator's glass and plastic?

Yes, it will stick, particularly well to glass and ok to plastic if the surfaces are clean (no grease!). If you try to remove it, you'll end up with a sticky residue, especially on the glass.

Proof! 3M is known for its high-quality tapes, abrasives, and other flat adhesives. It's no different with this tape. PROS: br>br> 1. br>br> This is a fantastic aluminum alloy foil with a pressure-resistant coating. sensitive adhesive, as well as a paper liner Outstanding adhesion in metal-to-metal joints, such as ductwork, and a reduction in joint tolerances between sheet metal and steel. br> I used this tape to connect a 4" duct hose to a roof vent as an insulator. This was my first time using the tape
5/5

This is something I really enjoy. I did something a little different with this tape. I have a few reptiles and needed to tape a heat mat to a plastic tote, and this tape was recommended. It was extremely effective! It's a thin tape, but it's incredibly strong! On the bin, I also made a door and adhered it with tape. It's incredible how the tape served as a hinge. I could not have made a better hinge. I'm going to save this tape because I'm sure we'll find a variety of uses for it!.

Not good
5/5

It remained attached to my insulating material for about 6 months before simply falling off. It's in a hot attic, but no one goes up there; we don't even go up there. It was fine after a month, but it has mostly fallen off after about 6 months. I was only up there for the second time, and no one else had been up there before. I'm going to experiment with a different brand.

This is ideal for concealing some wires that need to be protected
5/5

I installed a skip shift cable in my car's transmission and covered it with this to keep it hidden from the dealer while also protecting it from heat and debris. br>br>Easy to apply, but that tape is razor sharp, so wear gloves or be cautious because it will cause some nasty paper cuts.

This is an excellent cassette
5/5

This tape has a lot of stickiness to it. Once you've put it on, it's not going to come off. It works well on metal. I used it to patch up a small hole in my wheel wells. After that, I painted it black with rubber paint. It stood the test of time.

It performs the task at hand
5/5

I did a lot of research online to see if this tape was safe to use to seal a local heating vent in my room. Duct tape appeared to be slipping off in a matter of days. It turned out that it did an excellent job, and the house is free of fires. The heater dries out the air to the point where it irritates my sensitive sinuses, but the other members of this household don't seem to mind, or so I should say. The tape is extremely sticky, and it was able to seal all cracks allowing air into the heater vent, and it hasn't come off yet, and I don't expect it to. However, I have not attempted to remove the tape. I'm not sure how the landlord will feel if I forget to do it before I leave.

You've got to admire it
5/5

I bought this to help with an iMac repair, specifically to tape down the heat shield in case I broke it while getting to the hard drive; I haven't used it yet, but I did use it to repair a hard plastic dustpan that had broken when stepped on. A dustpan with a crack that runs the length of it and hangs down about an inch from the top part doesn't work very well for some reason. So I put the tape on the top side of the crack, and it works just like new, with no dirt getting all over the tape's edges. Try it with duck tape (or duct tape, as it was once known). ), and dirt would ruin it. br>br>Thin, strong, clean, and gleaming. You've got to admire it. br>br>(Hmm, how about putting some on two cutouts for my eyes and wearing them while walking down the street late at night? To be honest, cosplayers, here are some ideas to try.

Dryer Vent Extension to Dryer was used
5/5

I used an all-aluminum extension piece to replace my dryer vent extension (the piece that connects your dryer to the ductwork that comes out of the wall). The extension to the permanent ductwork and the other end of the extension to the dryer itself were both sealed with this tape. br>br>Working with the tape is a breeze. It has a paper backing that stays in place when you unroll the tape, making it easy to cut and torn by hand. Simply peel off the paper backing once the roll has been unrolled and is ready to use. The tape adheres to aluminum and metal ductwork exceptionally well. Only time will tell whether the foil tape's adhesive backing will hold up to repeated dryer heat. However, 3M's data sheet states that it can withstand temperatures up to 180 degrees F.
