I made a mistake and cut holes in the wrong place in the drywall. Repairs involving nylon reinforced tape were suggested in YouTube videos. Contractors may be able to obtain quantities from a wide range of suppliers. Only a few feet were required. This roll (180 feet) appeared to be the smallest quantity available at a reasonable price, and the tape is not overly sticky, but it stays in place well enough while the joint compound is applied. It's simple to cut and doesn't stick to the roll right away, making it easier to get to your next project.
Due to the age of my house and the heat/humidity cycle over the years, the builder used paper joint tape in some areas of the garage ceiling, and it began to peel back. br>br>I peeled off the old tape, wiped the surface clean with a paper towel to remove dust, and then applied the nylon mesh tape and spot DryDex (spackling) to see if they work together. It's been through ten heat cycles, during which the ceiling temperature reaches 100 degrees Fahrenheit, with no cracking or peeling.
I painted the trim around the door frames with it inside. It yanked the old paint off the walls when it was being removed. (As a result, the walls around the doorframes had to be sanded, primed, and painted again. ) I switched back to blue tape for the rest of the doors, and it worked perfectly.
This came in handy when I needed to re-organize my office. Shoe Go is tightening up my RC body. You don't even need to clue it in place if you take your time and go slowly.
This was used to replace the plaster lathe squares that had been cut out of the wall by the plumber in order to reach the pipes. It easily and neatly tucked into the first layer of mud and smoothed out. After that dried, I had a very strong seal, and after a thin second layer of mud, the tape vanished. This makes me very happy.
It was a lot of fun to use the self-adhesive joint tape! I simply taped the tape to the wall and applied the tapeing compound. Keeping the tape in place was not a problem. It resulted in smooth seams that required little to no sanding. It comes highly recommended.
It's fine, but I think the paper tape is superior. In a couple of places, these left a mesh pattern that I couldn't hide without making it obvious.
This was my first drywall patch, and it was incredibly simple to apply and adhere to. Because it can be difficult to find the end of the tape between uses, place something beneath it. In addition, one strand at the edge of the braid will occasionally fall out. However, these are minor annoyances.
