Because homebrewers aren't always sure whether or not they've checked that box.
When I make my own beer, I use them. They're used to strain the grains, and the temperature is 185 degrees at that point in the process. Heat has never been an issue for me in the 20 years I've been brewing beer.

A paint strainer that's more than that. They're great for straining beeswax! It's a real time saver when it comes to removing impurites.
It's ideal for monarch butterfly enthusiasts whose milkweed has been eaten to the stems by hungry caterpillars! I like how the elastic at the end keeps it in place around the plants' bases. Until the plants have recovered, Mama monarchs are prevented from laying new eggs in them.
If you need to protect your plants from whitefly (or any other garden pest) in your garden (in-doors or out), This filter bag is great for both ground and hydroponic use. It's kept in place by the elastic bottom. It's thin enough to allow light to pass through. It's just the right height for a small plant. The use of this filter bag has helped my hydroponic chili pepper plant thrive.
When removing composted muck from one 5 gallon bucket to another, I used these bags to make compost tea in 5 gallon buckets, which resulted in liquid tea. Everything went smoothly. I believe I threw the bag away after 5 batches, but it's possible I washed it to use again. use. In any case, it's an excellent deal.
Straining paint is simple with the elasticated cuff, and these are inexpensive enough to be used only once.
For my inground pool, I spent a lot of time and money on skimmer socks. They are only good for 10 to 14 days before they decompose. I replaced my old one with this one, and I'm very happy with it. They're still in excellent shape after four weeks. WOW. GREAT.
They are used in the brewing of my beer. I would have given them five stars if they were only good for one use. I used to buy another brand and could use them two or three times before they went bad, but they were much more expensive and I had to spend time washing them. So, for the price, these are excellent.
Fits perfectly in the Titan ED655 hopper. Just like the ones you'd find in big-box stores, but for a lot less money per piece. These are extremely useful for straining paint before it enters the pump.
