Gorilla Paintable Silicone Sealant Caulk, Waterproof and Mold & Mildew Resistant, 9 Ounce Cartridge, White, (Pack of 1)

I've had good luck with Gorilla brand products in the past, and this appeared to be another high-quality product. br>This spring, I went to Home Depot to get some more to continue the re-wiring project. I'm going to caulk the outside of my house. They didn't have it anymore, much to my surprise. br>I see why now. When I checked the extensive caulking I did last fall, I found that about 90 of it needs to be redone. The product forms a "skin" during the initial drying period, which appears to be the cause of the failure. After that, the solvents are unable to escape through the "skin," causing bubbles to form. The vast majority of those bubbles then burst! br>As a result, I'm having to remove a lot of this caulking this year and replacing it with a "typical" higher-quality product from Home Depot.

This is what I used to seal the joints and grooves on my shiplap siding. This item appealed to me not only because of the product's reputation, but also because it was paintable and could withstand extreme weather and temperature. To aid in curing and avoid shrinkage, bubbles, and the development of an outer skin, I applied it in the late summer/early fall when our temperatures are more consistent and not as extreme. I was blown away by its consistency, stickiness, and ease of application. It was easy to put on. It filled in evenly, dried evenly, and was incredibly simple to apply and work with. To avoid any chemical reactions, I waited a few weeks before painting to ensure that it had completely cured. This product, unfortunately, only lasted a year. It has shrunk and cracked in less than a year, causing the paint to crack as well. My house is now barn red with white pinstripes, giving it the appearance of a candy cane, which is not the look I was going for. Now I have to scrape everything off and repaint the entire house. I assumed that if a product is the most expensive in its category, it must be the best; however, you do not get what you pay for in this case. What a squander of resources, both time and money. My entire house now needs to be redone. I squandered tens of thousands of dollars on my project, which now needs to be redone completely.

Well, I bought some of this last year, and the tubes were perfect, and it worked perfectly. I've never used a silicone that was so sticky before, so I decided to buy the six pack because I have a lot of uses for it right now. The six-pack I received is among the worst I've ever received. The first half is thick, but not as sticky as the tubes from the previous year. The last half is globby, not particularly sticky, and almost jello-like. Odd. I need to get a replacement because the 6 pack I bought is causing me so much trouble. Some of it has to be peeled off because it isn't sticking. br>br>Update* I got my replacements, and they're acting the same way. I believe the gorilla company produced a faulty batch. Or perhaps these simply say "too long in the warehouse" or "froze in transit. " I'm not sure. 1/2- The tubes are sticky and usable in 3/4 of them. The final half-hour 1/4 is gloppy and not at all sticky, smelling and looking like a watery vinegar.

I'm not sure if I got a bad batch, but this product looks and feels more like glue than caulk. It was difficult to use a Caulking gun to apply it because it was very thick and dry. I tried soaking the tube in hot water to soften it, but it didn't work, and I don't recommend it. If you're looking for a paintable silicone sealant caulk, the GE brand is a good choice; however, the tubes were very hard, which could indicate that they had been on the shelf for too long; however, I'm not sure.

Buyer beware of the price; I could have gone to Loews and purchased 10 tubes for the same price.

It's difficult, and I learned the hard way that you can't go through it with a wet finger or sponge. Excess caulk resulted in a few smears as I attempted to clean it up and make a straight line. Cleaning up is a nightmare. On my shower tile, the color appears gray rather than white; I expected this product to help add a nice finishing touch to my tub and tile, but it actually detracted from the overall appeal of my shower. I'm very dissatisfied with the results, especially since I paid a premium for them.

I'm not sure if the tube I purchased was old, but it appeared to be almost too dry and solidified. To get the caulk to flow from the gun, I had to apply a lot of pressure to the trigger. It was impossible to make a smooth, consistent bead because of this. It was difficult to get a consistent smooth result when smoothing with a wet finger, and I ended up with a wavy finish. br>Gorilla makes excellent products, so it's possible that this was a one-time occurrence.

My upstairs landlord needed to replace the gutters because I was living in a basement. Meanwhile, water was dripping down the inside of one of my doors and out the frame. br>br>I used this to seal the cracks, and it POURED outside after about 30 minutes. There were no leaks back then, and there haven't been any leaks (from that area) in the last couple of weeks.
