Now, with all the price changes, I am very pleased with this small, tiny unit, with high reliability and great value in my opinion. Most homeowners will begin to do so as a result of it. I use it weekly along with my Flir Thermal Camera to pinpoint leaks before I swiss cheese the walls or ceilings to discover of such a leak so if your in the trades and looking for one of these look no further it's perfect and hey if you drop it off a 12 foot ladder been there done that but hey no big deal it's only $30 not $300 so if your in the trades and looking for one of these look no further it's perfect and hey That was an expensive day, and now I'm going to make cringing faces lol I wasn't paid or promised anything to write this review, I was just bored waiting for my next customer to get home, and I'll be using this little guy again, it paid for itself a long time ago. One piece of advice, always keep an extra 9volt battery with your gear for it, as that's when it will die on you while you're trying to show the client and whalaaaaaaa.

I tried it on a piece of firewood that wasn't sure how seasoned it was, but it was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy It informed me that it was 2016%. Seasoned wood that has been dried in the sun for a year has a 15-year shelf life. 20%. There is no way this wood could have been 2015%. I split the wood to get inside, and the reading was the same. I got repeated readings on similar wood with random 30% readings on random readings on random 30% readings on random 30% readings on ran It takes about 50-100 pounds of unseasoned firewood to make a fire. 60%. I took a piece of dripping wet firewood that had been sitting in a puddle behind the barn for weeks and stuffed it into the side where the water was. No surprise here, 30%. JUNK, I'm returning! Give me a break, make dependable, decent products, or come up with less time-consuming schemes to make money by stealing money from honest people.

I don't have anything to compare it to because it's my first moisture meter, but I'm very happy with it. It's what I use to see if my firewood is ready to be burned. It appears to be well constructed; the prongs must be pushed into the wood with some force, and I was concerned that the small pins would be fragile, but they are not. They're sturdy, and the case appears to be up to the job. br>br>I've done some experimenting with it - I've been testing a piece of wood and then leaving it in the house for a while, and the moisture level has gone down every time I test it, just as you'd expect. I like that it will turn off on its own if I forget to do so. The moisture level is indicated by beeping, which is a nice surprise feature. The beeping slows down if the level is extremely low. Then it beeps faster as the moisture level rises. The cutoff for burnable firewood is 20% and if the unit measures over 20% it beeps quite quickly. I feel like it says, "This wood is not ready! br>br>I should also point out that the results I get match what I see when I burn the wood. If I measure a piece at say 2018%, it lights up and burns without steaming or hissing. If I measure one at 22%, some of the steaming and hissing will appear after I put it on the fire.

It comes with a 209v battery and I This came as a nice surprise.

In front of my kitchen sink, the hardwood floors began to cup. Guys from the floor came out and gave me repair estimates. They never took any measurements of the moisture or where it came from. When I got this meter, I discovered that my faucet was leaking. It came to a halt after being chalked with silicon. I would have wasted hundreds of dollars if I hadn't used the meter, and having my floors sanded while they were still wet would have damaged them. This small device helped me save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.

The kitchen ceiling was wet because of a leak in my room. I ordered this because I had been borrowing it from my uncles and thought it would be more convenient to have my own. When compared to the ryobi, this one didn't even come close to the readings of the other moisture meter. I used to work in the water restoration industry, and I wouldn't put my faith in this. Mold will grow if the area isn't thoroughly dried. I went ahead and placed an order for one that was better.

In our home office, we've had a strange odor that's driving me insane. I suspected a mold problem beneath the window but couldn't place it, so I bought this to look around and try to pinpoint the exact location. I had the moist areas behind the drywall identified within minutes of unboxing this, and I discovered my problem the following day. br>br>This saved me a lot of time and effort because I would have been cutting holes all over my wall if it hadn't been for this, and the problem wasn't even under the window as I had assumed. This is extremely simple to use and extremely accurate. I've seen complaints about the pins being damaged, but they appear to be very sturdy to me, piercing drywall multiple times with no problem. I'm overjoyed that I came across this.

While it performs better than other pinned moisture meters in this price range, I've noticed that pins are breaking when used in hardwoods. Furthermore, the plastic that surrounds the pins begs to be broken. br>For those who only check moisture every few weeks, this would be a useful tool. month. br>As a replacement, use standard General brand pins.
