Because I don't like it when people mix concerns about packaging and shipping into product reviews, I will You pay for yourself even if you aren't a professional at this level since it's the best. A little accuracy will save you both time and materials when you are building walls, remodeling, or constructing an arbor or chicken coop. Having no regrets at all. Thus, I had to ask Amazon to send two levels of the item. I noticed both items were packaged poorly, but the first one came in a box that looked battered and although I noticed the box had no penetrations and these levels are very tough, it had some Dropping it on a hard or sharp edge will cause a dent, but even so it is pretty hard to make a dent in this level. Two matching dents appeared on the first one (falling across a sharp edge in a storage bin) and another random dent appeared on the second one. Overall, there are five dents, and even though they are big, the finish is tough, so you have to look hard to find In addition, there were a few scuffs on the surface. I recognize the level was probably appropriate, but it's almost a shame not to have to return it so they can learn. I discarded the second one because of poor packaging, but it was undamaged. In my opinion, this is a minor inconvenience for most people, but I am posting this review just to remind them to check that buys a tool at this level understands what they're getting, but if this is your first tool of this caliber, have fun with it. There's nothing quite like a good.
Firstly, I want to say thank you. It came in a cardboard box, but without bubble wrap or any An opening had been made in the box. If someone was shipping a precision instrument, I would have thought they would be It would be impossible for me to know the accuracy of the information. As far as I know, I was leveling girders before moving on to the next step, so On one end of the level, I put it against the stemwall, and on the other end, I put it against After that, I carried out another test with my 30 year old 3' craftsman level and found that the bubbles were identical. It's hard to say if the accuracy is better because it's not so certain. Despite that, I really like how flexible the lengths are. My rating for thickness is a one star, since I'm not certain exactly how thick it is and if it's related to anything.
There was no packaging on it when it was sent to me. It was in poor condition when it reached me, so you can imagine how bad it was. How the heck do you do! It would make sense to expect that the level would arrive in a wooden crate for its price.
Since I have been a superintendent for so long, I spend most of my time measuring. I enjoy using this awesome tool, but moving from room to room is not as easy as I hoped because I have to stop hooking it on any door frame, walls, etc. In order to extend the extension from one room to the next, it is not feasible to retract the extensions from every room. As seen in the Stabila videos, the tool is NOT damaged when extended, but becomes very fragile when retracted back to the original position. That is how they put it. This is why I am very cautious when I move from one room to another not to hit the extended end on something. I may be being overly cautious, but it's $400 and I don't want to reduce it to a knife. The object must be much heavier than my 8' level since it would take many pounds to lift it. I think you need to take care of this, and it will take care of you. However, this $400 tool is only meant to be used to install bottom/top plates, not a substitute for an 8' level.
This thing is fabulous, I should have bought it 20 years ago, though I can't speak to its durability yet as I have just begun using it, but so far it seems to be working fine.
A plate level is what you need if you want precision when leveling your walls. This levels out at 4 ft on this plate level. It shows walls that are 1/2 inch out as being level on a Stabila level. There is a dead-end to all of this Although not accurate level, but the natural bows that wall studs can have will cause you to vary from level however they will look level when using a 4 ft. level. It matters. The plate level will never go out of level, however, since it spans the wall studs, from the bottom plate to the Despite being a small unit, it's remarkably accurate and well constructed. We bought it as a nice addition to our tool collection, and it is very cool to be able to say to our neighbors "My level is bigger than yours" =).
I can't really say much more than that because it's the best.
It's the best level around and worth every penny. It makes life so much easier.
