I found it useful for hanging pictures and lights, which gave me a clean center line. The item will be thrown away at the end of the day. Due to its thin plastic and lack of weight, it is able to easily be moved by slight breezes. I found it less than useful and less than optimal in height in general. I purchased this unit and discovered that the stand did not secure the mounting plate to hold the laser level in any position without flopping over to the ground with the laser level pointing at the ground. The defect was locking knob number three, which will not secure the mounting plate. As a result of a return to 360 degree lasers and stands, I received a new stand. On the newly received unit, the stand was also defective in the In this case, I assume this defective is a design defect present in every base that is included As an alternative, I will try adding more washers to the 3 screw at the locking knob to see if that will hold the mounting plate in the position I want it to be. The first time I dropped it (and my tripod fell over), the horizontal laser broke off. What I don't know is whether I can be lucky or not. It is so fragile that, when taking it apart to see if it can be salvaged, it was hard to find any connections that might survive. There is a copper wire attached to one of the boards that is very thin Because of this, disassembly becomes tricky, since if your wires snap, you have to solder them back on manually, and the wires on these aren't thick enough for tweezers to handle. The laser part is pretty much completely broken, which is a shame since it worked so well. I don't think I can fix it myself. While doing my garage work in the morning, I had trouble seeing the lines across the garage because of all the ambient lighting. I probably will repurchase the green one for a slightly brighter one. If there is any light at all, I would be shocked if I could get 65 feet from the laser. Despite some issues with the product, laser levels are definitely worth the money. Just disappointed that this one cracked.
