Questions & Answers

The pendulum locks at any point in time?

PLS does not consider the use of a pendulum lock on their lasers necessary because the laser does not lock. Rubber is used to protect it There is a bumper on the sides.

'Can the laser be controlled or fixed for the purpose of creating a long, straight, inclined line, such as the laying out of a long ramp or slightly sloping floor?

Although it is a little tricky and I did not keep my user guide, I cannot cite my sources. I found that once you turn on the laser you have to hold the on button for a few seconds before releasing to get it locked, then you can tilt it to produce a straight line slope. I could only get it to produce that lock with both the vertical and horizontal lasers on however. It has been quite some time since I found

How many vertical lines will it project if it's placed on the floor, and how many vertical lines will it project if it's on the wall behind it as well?

Yes, but only on the front wall does it project a vertical line. This laser is amazing. Setting tile on walls is something I do all the time. I would appreciate it if you had one for floor tile as well.

What is the visibility of this laser ?

The LED is visible outside, but its brightness will differ depending on the brightness of the outside light source (i.e. Sunlight, work lights) will impact more lasers

I'm so angry
3/5

Because I like the PLS180 so much, I did not give it the 2 stars it deserves. Before, I used these pls180s in commercial carpentry and I found them to be This is the best level out there. It projects a CRISP line far and wide. It has never once caused a problem. Since then, I've not been able to find one that works. It was a pleasure to deal with the seller, all was well. The first time I ordered the pls180 was a few weeks ago on ebay. When I took the level out of the box, I observed that it had a loose screw. Before it decided not to turn on after five minutes, the beam worked for all of five minutes. Despite being a bit displeased with the $280 level (the LED light worked), I returned that one without a problem. I need this as soon as possible because I am working on a renovation. In my attempt to determine whether the problem was caused by the seller, I went through Amazon. I received this one as well, and it was free from visible defects, but I had the same problem! Remember to keep $280 in mind. The app says it will not process events for the next two minutes, which is absurd. I contacted PLS Support who suggested I return the device they aren't keeping quality control up to par? Then you'll see how angry I am.
ARRRRRRGH. Neither settling for an inferior dewalt nor betting on another PLS is appealing to me. When they work (which I love, when they work)
I'm re-sending this one for a replacement. I will update my review as soon as the new one arrives. **UPDATE** I have received another new PLS 180 from Amazon within a similar amount of time as the first one. Thank you very much. I am happy to say that this one works perfectly. Perhaps the faulty unit I got was not the tip of the iceberg of defective This review has been upgraded to a 4 star rating. Well, now that I have my pls180 operational, I have set out to do some work. Magnetizing the bracket to the corner bead proved to be a good idea. Trying to establish the magnets' strength when they are not really strong was a poor move on my part. There were probably two reasons why it fell it bumped me, and it fell. My foot, with which I was attempting to break its fall, landed on its body after it fell five feet. Now the beam on the horizontal axis is not working! As a child, I remember dropping these things not intentionally, but 7 times a day for 8 months If you threw it from a height of 8 feet onto concrete, maybe the lens would crack but it would As of now, I do not know where I will go. It is unlikely that Pls would cover an accident of this magnitude. There's no way I'm giving it up after spending most of my savings on it, even though there's a part of me that wants to just buy the cheaper dewalt one that has rubber bumpers and give up the long reach This laser makes a lot of sense when it works well. It is, however, of no value to me at the moment. It was disappointing.

This is an excellent In 8 months installation of hotel rooms for a large resort, I used and abused more than ten of these everyday
5/5

They're fairly durable, as most survived CONSTANT daily abuse by carpenters, dropping them on concrete, jamming them into tool bags, etc. The laser job did damage one or two electronic devices, but it was a mild damage A battlefield in which the dead are buried. An easy third hand (also an essential product) that is quick and easy to setup and adjust with the arm attachment and two super-easy adjustments These magnets attract. Unlike the over-sized laser lines, laser lines settle down quickly with each tap to adjust height Developing a complex Bosch which bounces way too much and for too long results in a sensitive problem. Batteries lasted although anything laser seems to eat them like potato chips, so there were no awkward switches, or problems with the switches failing or accidentally turning on in tool bags. It is relatively crisp, brightness and thickness varies slightly with distance, but we quickly learn to interpret fuzz and work with bottom, middle, and top of the laser line. With its smaller size, the laser is much easier to store as well as much easier to use than Bosch or.

The world would be a bleak place In using my coworker's PLS tool I made the decision to purchase my own one Based on the foundation that we built together and because PLS is the most respected brand in lasers, we built the worker's PLS3 (levels and plumb lines) instead of traditional lines
5/5

The PLS180 is so much better than the PLS3! I am so relieved I made this decision! Having access to a laser tool as one of the most valuable tools in your toolbox is very important if you are doing foundation work. My mind is having a hard time picturing how people formed civilizations Lasers are not needed for this work. As a matter of fact, lasers excel at many other framed and finished carpentry tasks as well. You will use the PLS180 for much more than what you could ever imagine. There is a wide range of labor tasks that typically require the use of chalk In place of a line, measuring tape, and level, the laser will save you lots of time. Setting wainscotting or picture frames with the laser will save you lots of time. Several types of trim levels are used across an entire room, such as crowns or trim. The but is. You might want to use the laser to draw a vertical line on your plywood when you're nailing in the field with the shears. Even piling up door jambs with it isn't a problem for me. You can now accomplish any task that would normally require you to hold a level in one hand and screw into place a piece of whatever with the other hand, by setting a laser into the necessary position and freeing both hands. The next thing I want to do is get a tripod for it, so that I don't have to spend as much time setting it up on a ladder or whatever with blocks and shims. Although a bit disappointed that I chose not to spend an extra $70 for the PLS4, I am still happy with the purchase. all you do is foundations and structural framing, the PLS seems like it would be useful, since it gives a plumb line and an alignment line by which to align existing framing with a footing, and stuff like that.

It was a great laser, but I needed a few tips to make it even better
5/5

In the first place, this laser is very It was the third sub-99 dollar laser that failed or could not project a clear enough line around a room after the first two failed. As I have an "open concept" layout, I was able to project a plumb line and level line across two rooms at once, which generated a great deal of attention. I lined up pictures and shelving across the two rooms and always received compliments. Likewise, I installed new 4 inch recessed lighting in the kitchen and dining room using this tool. The fan is displayed in its 180 degree position, so it is very handy. If you want to do only home improvement projects, then it is a bit expensive, but I had already thrown away 200 dollars worth of cheaper units. Do your math and buy a pro model first. (Update)

In response to an inquiry from another user, the bracket magnets are powerful enough to hold along the steel corner bead found in most drywall-installed The height of the lines has to be fiddled with in order to be set. You can save yourself time and effort by getting a surveyor's tripod if you plan to do a lot of positioning and height adjustments.
