I simply love it. My opinion about digital calipers is that they are not useful to me. There are no batteries or callibrations needed for this. Blacksmithing is something I do with this. I'm trying to make simple hardened steel that can stand up to the harsh temperatures I expose it to regularly. With a mechanical scale, you can measure just as well as a digital one without the hassle of batteries or the risk of the screen melting off as with a digital one. Both metric and imperial measurement formats are supported.

Having been tired of dial calipers and electronic calipers that broke when dropped, I bought this one instead. When working with machinery, you need a caliper that is rugged and can handle abuse because abuse is all part of the job. The I/O leads will work with both US common and metric measurements, and will take abuse (like normal shop handling). It only gets 4 stars mainly because I have poor vision in close quarters and in order to get accurate readings, a good vision is needed. Despite my ability to read dial calipers, they were always broken, so it was of no use to me.

I am quite impressed with how well-made and accurate the caliper is. There have been other reviews that point out the thumbwheel is not a wheel and Although this may make the caliper less useful, it does not negate its usefulness. It takes just a few seconds to slide the parts to where you want to measure them. It is much more useful than a digital caliper because you do not need to worry about its battery life if you don't use it frequently.

It is a good caliper that works well, can be read easily, and holds its measurement for repeated measurements. There have been only a few returns There were adjustments to be made.
