If you put the transformer in play and let the smart plug control the dusk/dawn timer, I assume the transformer will take care of the timing.

This timer sits inside the transformer, and the timer is attached to the transformer with a plug. Approximately 3 x 3 x 2 inches is the timer.

Both the timer and photocell are faulty

It is a nice little tool. I have two. Despite the fact that the transformers work (as they should), the photocell and/or the timer do not function. There is no rhyme or reason to when they will come on. A variety of combinations of light or dark were used to see if this affected Not at all. A timer has a mind of its That is something I'd like a refund on or a replacement for. It is useless.

I used this on our LED landscape lighting system. Some people may find the timer to be a con. By installing a photo switch, you can set a timer for the lighting to stay on for which number of hours you want.
