Mine was purchased in the summer and it worked well. However, when the fall or winter set in, it didn't stay lit as long as it used to. A sun-facing solar panel was adjusted to face more toward the sun and the lamps gently slid into place. It has been a few years since I have had a problem.

A dollar store has better things than I do. It was so exciting to see my mother's reaction when I bought it for her garden. It is now not something I want to give The box was perfect when I received it. It appears to be in great condition with no dents, punctures, or other damage. There are so many things wrong with it when you open it. There was a complete bend in the tail of the flamingo's body. Because I was afraid it would snap, I was hesitant to bend it back. That area had peeling paint and was very unpleasant to look at. On the bird, there were also random spots where paint had chipped off. A giant glob of glue holds the tiny wire for the light on this thing. This picture has a splotch of glitter paint that I don't know where it came from, as other than that, I don't see any glitter paint anywhere else on the picture. The people on here saying that this is well made must have gotten something else, I don't know. I don't know if I was just duped because I don't know if I got something else. It is just so sad to see this.
Because we lived in the north for 50 years, we used to laugh at people keeping those plastic cheap flamingos in their yards. It is a beautiful item, and it lasts so long. Our home moved to a southern state just over two years ago, and the pink roses are a beautiful addition to my garden. There is no cheesiness or cheapness to it. A way to describe it would be that it's very pretty and elegant. It is adorable, and I thought it was odd at first.
Within the first two weeks, I was very concerned that the flamingo would lose color. Because it is supposed to be in the sun, it charges and is supposed to light up at night. However, the sunlight turns the colors off. I have never seen my flamingo come to life from solar power at night. This is not a recommended product because it seems cheap now. It's pretty until you lose its color, but other than that, it's great.

In this solar light there is a built-in battery to store all the solar energy it soaks up during the day. It stays on all night so it must absorb a lot of solar energy. It has a sturdy metal construction and is easy to assemble. The dog gets out at 6 AM the day after I take him out around 30 PM. If it was bigger, they might be able to string lights down the legs and up the neck, but then they would probably have to spend several hundred dollars.
