The rubber ring should be slid down a bit. To remove the plastic punch dot from each LED, unscrew it. Replace the rubber ring over the conjoined parts and screw the LED back together. WHEN YOU'RE DONE USING THE LED LIGHTS, REMOVE THE RUBBER RING AND MAKE SURE THE LED LIGHTS ARE LOOSE ENOUGH, OR THE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON. The lights will stay off if done correctly, and you can either store them or keep the plastic punch dots and re-insert them. These were purchased for Fourth of July celebrations. Now it's time for you to have some fun with your lanterns.

I made miniature hot air balloon centerpieces out of the lanterns. They couldn't be true to scale because they had to fit in the middle of a round table with a diameter of less than 12 inches. Everyone adores you!.
