What kind of bulb you want to put in it will certainly affect how bright it is! Using 100 Watt incandescent and compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs has never been a problem for me. Rather, it is the width of the mouth leading to the bulge that is problematic, not the bulge itself. In any case, I wouldn't use anything bigger than 100 watts as the chimney glass is so thin and fragile that heat may cause damage. Make your power source just 100 watts or less, and you will not encounter any problems. My wife and I have used it for a long time!

My price was too high, so I had to return it, but this wasn't the fault of the seller. I really wanted to keep the glass chimney since it was high quality.
