I've purchased other connectors for my Christmas light props and have never had a problem with the quality like this. They arrived in a bag rather than a box, so that could be part of the problem, but they're deformed. They won't fit together because the plastic is harder at 68 degrees. I can't imagine trying to put them together outside on a roof or anywhere else in colder weather, when the plastic is more difficult to work with. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get these to fit together, and I don't think that's a problem I'll be able to solve for my purposes. br>br>I considered heating them up to try to reshape them, but ultimately decided it would be better to return them and buy the other brand I had previously purchased. br>br>Perhaps it's a shipping issue, but it appears to me that the molds aren't compatible. In any case, I'm hoping that if the company reads this, they'll double-check QC and consider packaging them in a box to avoid deformities.
These were purchased to go with my RGB pixel strings. I connected these to my power supply and made extension cables for all strings that required power injection at the end. I like how these differ from both my XConnectors and my 2-in-1 connectors. My Power-Connectors have core connectors. Tee's. As a result, there's no risk of accidentally connecting power from two different power sources to the same string.
Only one set of connectors from the five pairs received could be put together reasonably. As can be seen in the photo, the others were all extremely misshapen. Is this company simply sending QA rejections from another location?.
After reading the other reviews, I chose the large option. The wires on most wall chargers are quite small, so this was the perfect size. This was an excellent match. I have no idea how tiny the small is. This is a well-made product at a reasonable price. It ought to last me as long as I require it.
br>Once I removed the rubber ring, it fit perfectly to the unit's power source. The connectors have a slightly different design, but the connector size is the same, and once the nut was tightened, the connector was secure and weatherproof even without the rubber ring.
So, I'm going to give credit where it's due. Regardless of why I'm giving one star, these will work properly. They appear to be a good fit for my intended purpose and fit well for cheaper connectors. They appear to be water resistant as well as having good electrical continuity. But. BUT, and this is a big BUT. The locking nut / collar was missing from my kit. You're familiar with the component that holds everything together. They weren't included in the shipment, to be sure. Because it was such a significant setback for my project, I'm going to have to declare it a complete failure.
When the other connector is connected, the entire unit becomes a solid waterproof unit. When not in use, they should have a water-resistant cap. There's a lot of pigtail to work with, and it's simple to connect it to a long cable run. We're good to go with just a little weatherproof shrink wrap around the cable connection.
I received two of them that were out of round, as shown in the photo. I could probably force them round, but there would be a much higher risk of them leaking at that point.
