Questions & Answers

Is it necessary to replace both black and white filters on a regular basis?

The black filters are good for 3000 gallons each. This filter is good for 6000 gallons of water if you have two black filters. The filter has a life expectancy of 1500 days if you filter and consume 4 gallons a day. Almost four years has gone by since then.

These shower filters will fit on your massaging shower head, right? Does the massage head work with any other massaging ?

There aren't any filters meant to be used in showers. These are for the Berkey gravity water filter. Almost any shower head can be fitted with shower heads designed for filtering water. There is no change in the fitting so it is standard just as your shower is.

Can these be stored before being used, and how long is their shelf life?

A picture of This was gleaned from "The Berkey PF-70" website Two fluoride filters have a theoretical shelf life of indefinite amount of time. Before use, the items will live as long as they are stored in their original packaging. If you want to store them outside, you should keep them in a cool, dry place where they will not be exposed to the weather.

Selected User Reviews For Berkey PF-2 Fluoride Filter (Set of 2) - Fits White Berkey Purifiers Only

I don't mind other recent reviews, but this works just fine
4/5

Make sure it does not dry out. PF-was used up, so I needed to replace it In my Royal Berkey, I had two fluoride filters that had dried out completely after being inactive for so long. The fact that PF- exists I only found out yesterday There are two filters that need to be removed from the media, and they should be stored in the refrigerator (not frozen) for a short period of time to prevent them drying out and to discourage the growth of pathogens. It is essential that they be flushed before resuming use The installation process. There has been only two filters once activated/primed/wet, but the clock begins ticking and the media must be kept wet to be replaced after a year or 1,000 gallons filtered many Berkey users purchase the system for emergency backup and daily use. In the filter setup, there is a lot of detail that must be followed In light of all the negative reviews for Berkey as a whole, I actually ended up trying another water filter rather than purchasing replacement PF-117s Filtering has been done twice. I nevertheless ordered a replacement PF-264 for that experiment, which ended up being a failure Filtering has been done twice. on each revolution turned the filters exactly 8 times. During installation, I had some resistance to tightening at 6 1/2 revolutions, so I was actually afraid of puncturing the internal filter media screen by following instructions for the full 8 rotations. The Berkey rep pointed out that could be the cause of many Although I may have been overzealous in my purge effort, my PF- score still improved When the PF is not present After installation of 2 filters (double-filtered with Filtrete Maximum), the Berkey water tested at 79 parts per million. I think Berkey should have made the filter design more intuitive so it would be easier to use Since its introduction many years ago, it has proved to be effective. The reviews should prompt you to run a red dye (must be non-toxic) There will be drastic reductions in PF-length if the black elements are not functioning properly Two filters are provided for a specific period of time. My initial contact with Berkey was in response to concerns and questions related to many of the critical reviews, including one which stated that PF-17 was a danger for public health. In response to Berkey's contention that 2 only removes flourosilicates, a lab report done on 2/18/2018 by a NELAC ISO accredited laboratory was shared. Please note that. The accumulated volume, the influent water fluoride concentration in mg/L, the influent water pH, the influent water TDS, the effluent fluoride concentration in mg/L, and the fluoride reduction percentage.

I am referring to 11 and *- 1 You should aim for a PH level of 5 to 7 in your water In order for the media to perform adequately, its pH must reach 7 (closer to 5 is better I am near 7). Berkey also states that the PF-based media will not perform effectively. Together, calcium fluoride and fluorosilicic acid (also called hydrofluoric acid) provide calcium fluoride Acid fluoride). In addition to the above, it also removes the arsenic V Other heavy metal ions and oxidized arsenic III are present as well. The use of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) is a safe, non-toxic way of detecting and suspending aluminum. Although there are many reports about aluminum detection and suspension, Berkey uses it The presence of toxic biochemicals It is a ceramic (corundum, like rubies and sapphires) as opposed to the metal aluminum, which is toxic. By counting the pure aluminum ions that are separated from the oxygen ions, a false positive can be caused during lab testing. Alumina is one of the three methods recommended by the EPA and WQA for eliminating fluoride. Another two methods include using Bone char carbon (cheaper, but less effective) and using PF was appropriated, purged, installed, and maintained Be sure to order the filters from a trustworthy reseller source to avoid counterfeit/used filters. You will probably not experience cloudy partsiculates in your filtered water unless there is an unexpected manufacturing defect. During the initial purging procedure, warm cloudy water should definitely be visible due to the rise in water temperature caused by the activation process. Taking a star away, due to the aforementioned factors and the persistent deficit in manufacturing design improvement endeavors along with the specific requirements for PH. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a gravity-based competitor that is as effective It is fed by a system that filters 99 percent or more. This is the fraction of fluoride left after the full dose In reverse osmosis or steam distillation, water is stripped of beneficial trace minerals unless reconstituted or reconstituted water is used Adding minerals to food is good for health and taste. The TDS level will be monitored steadily for the duration of the experiment to determine whether its efficiency decreases over time The TDS levels went up ten times after just 20 gallons of fill, so I will reverse the process- When the monthly chamber maintenance is performed, we continually clean 2 elements. There's no better water to make the best coffee than Berkey water.

There is a white residue on the surface
3/5

The Berkey has been in my possession for years, and I absolutely We were always on well water, so I've always used black filters. Berkey's water filters are available to add to your Berkey water filter system before you move if you do not want to drink city water. The very idea of reading reviews never occurs to me. I had no reason to expect anything less than stellar performance. A few months later, I was researching another topic online, not directly related to Berkey or water filtration, but I was surprised to find people complaining about significant issues with the filters (even if the filters were I saw it there. I have had my Berkey for 8 years now, and have always kept it clean My first experience with this white residue is that I have never seen it Based on this, I can only assume they are made of these new filters (which I never needed until just That's a bummer. Knowing how to properly install filters and having primed and installed countless black filters before, I feel confident I did it correctly. Water had to run through these for a long time before it became clear, much longer than the instructions said to. Fairness be told, I haven't had my Berkey water tested and I don't know for certain what this residue is, but I am fairly certain it can't be good for me. A different brand of replacement filters, ProPur, have been ordered (after conducting hours and hours of research online). There is no need to listen to Berkey as to whether this residue is It is never a good thing to drink water that has white residue in it. Berkey products are sold by buyers who ask the following questions Why? The purpose was to remove any crap from the water and not allow a poor quality of water to get in. This is a complete disaster for Berkey. If all these users were to "damage" the filters in some way during the installation process, then they need to redesign this product. Is Berkey listening?.

It's imperative you know your fluoride levels so you can determine how long these will last
3/5

For starters, people have complained about the white film in the water, which is there when you first put them in It doesn't matter how much you prime them, this will always happen. I have been using these for about two years. Before I can get rid of the smell, I have to run 4 full filters of water through my Royal Berkey. There are high levels of fluoride in the water in my town, so I use these filters to reduce the level in the drinking water for my children so they do not accumulate discolored teeth. As I thought that maybe I should be replacing them more often because they have a high level of fluoride, a Berkey customer service person told me that was NOT the case and the level of fluoride didn't The water I tested did not make sense to me, so I got it The water came in three times once from the tap, once from filters that had been 5 months old (the customer service person advised me to change them after 8 months, BTW, because of the level of use we make) and finally from new filters that had been cleared of As a result, our tap water has a pH level of After the new filters were applied, the score went from 4 to In view of these findings, it is clear that the level of fluoride in the water is a significant factor in how long filters.
