Because the two washers are too thick, there is not long enough left on the threads to properly tighten the nut, resulting in it leaking and not being able to be tightened properly. It requires the user to hold down one handle in order to turn on this spigot. It would last me for a few days if I made a gallon of tea and kept it in the refrigerator. Now I have to hold down the spigot to fill a gallon, which is a hassle, but I can deal with that. I would like to add one more thing. Quite a bit of time was spent trying to locate 'O' rings sized just right to fit the spigot in the opening of the jug so that the gaskets supplied would not move out of place and allow water to leak. As a result of their age, the gaskets on the old spigot were 50% larger than the new ones, however I could not reuse them. be able to accommodate variances, larger gaskets would have kept me from having to 'jerry rig' the fit a great deal.
