To be perfectly honest, I was delighted to find this set of three drain baskets for my kitchen sink. My needs were stainless steel of course, so the fit was just right. Food particles, etc. would not be able to drain into the drain basket if the cover is made of plastic. With this item, debris and even the tiniest particles can enter the drain basket because it is smooth and has a graduated entry! Anyone who is looking to delay having to call a plumber due to a backed-up drain will be happy to read this. This system catches particles of such a small size that I find hard to believe. This review, however, ends on a sad note. About twice a day, I empty and wash this drain basket. The part that sits inside the sink drain began to rust underneath the basket (but I'm not sure at what point this happened). For years I've used a basket type strainer, so when I saw these, I had to give them a try. All the things that normally run down the drain are caught by these filters. I give it five stars because it lives up to its reputation. They get gunky and torn when they are made of rubber or plastic. Rust is prevented from forming over time and it's easy to clean. The mesh material is almost too effective at times, as anything smaller than a spaghetti or a little pasta ball is caught.
