Questions & Answers
Approximately 1/2 inch of foam material is used to construct the niche. A 13 inch stud spacing is the minimum recommended for a 12 inch niche with an inside measurement of 12 inches square. It's always a good idea to put a 2X4 on the top and bottom of the niche to give it support so that screws can be installed, and to give the wall structure. If the right or left side space is not filled with plywood or other custom 2X4 material finished to fit, you will need to cut it. So that it will be solid, it is necessary to have a niche to screw the cement board and niche into. Likewise, I use thinset and mesh tape to make the seam between the niche and backer board. I hope this was helpful.
A finished opening of 12 x 12 inches has been created. dimensions of the insert are 18 x 17 x 4 inches. A standard 2x4 construction wall will fit it
In my case, I framed the opening in a sheetrock wall and covered it in Kerdi later. The installation process is very simple. You can watch Schluter's YouTube videos on nearly every product they sell to learn how to install it.
There are four screws on the flange - one on each side

It is my profession to work in the tile industry. It has already been brought to our attention by someone else. In this unit, the rough is 16x16 outside flange [13x13 outside diameter of the body] (as shown in the images)*NOT 18" x 17". The number listed is 3 or whatever they have listed it If you plan to frame out an RO inside a wall or even if you want to cut out wallboard without the RO in hand, you should do so while you wait for the RO to arrive. A similar thing almost happened to me, however thanks to the warning of another reviewer I did not. Your help is greatly appreciated! This is just my way of paying it forward. I am not sure why on earth people continue to perpetuate the myth that this thing is the wrong size. It might be an old dimension. I will change the star rating to 5 if the problem is corrected. I think this box is of good quality (as are all Schluter products since I'm a big fan) Upon installation or when properly configured, the system performs as advertised. * * - All Angles Tile and Bath Eric.
In the product description, the niche is described as having exterior (rough in) dimensions of Three times four. My order was for 4, but I received a 12 by 12 niche with a 16 by 16 In my case, I had already framed in the rough opening for a bathroom remodel, so when I received the product, I was disappointed to learn that it was actually only 16x16 rough dimensions. As a result, I had to reframe the shower niche to match the actual dimensions of the product. Unfortunately, I did not receive the right product and the product description was incorrect. Although the product was probably the right one, this is a huge setback so be aware before purchasing and starting the project.
There are two Schlueters in the system A complete System is created by combining Kerdi Panels. Showers require the 12"x12" Niche - it is essential for a complete installation. It's easy to install and ready to tile once it's installed, just like any Kerdi panel. This is not a pre-requisition This surface slopes. The product is a bit on the pricey side (as with all Schlueter products).
I will continue to use Kerdi Solutions for waterproofing even if they remain expensive. If you have a niche, I can combine horizontally or vertically adjacent placements with good alignment quickly and easily. To fit the tile around the fixed size, you need to carefully cut the tiles around the size, but I think it's easy to do instead of Kerdi is really good at providing alignment challenges as well because of its rulings.
I think it is not a bad movie. The cost is twice as much as the value. A better value could be found elsewhere for the same amount of money. There's nothing wrong with the quality. What you get for the price isn't worth the price.
A package sent to someone else may have ended up in my hands. A couple of the edges and a corner of the box were damaged. Kermit is a popular subject on TV and in magazines, but when you get it, you realize it is just another hard foam niche - I have no real opinion on this matter. Not a lot to look at. As a result of the condition of the niche, I believe my overall impression has been influenced.
I have been dissatisfied since I purchased a different niche for renovation last year, which was plastic boxes. I bought this foam last year, and it actually cost me more money than a good one for the same price. In the long run, I do not know how durable this will be. You might want to consider something other than a cheap foam box for.
I bought this item because of the quick delivery, but the only issue I had was the size, it would only fit three bottles of shampoo, so I had to get a larger.
