I knew it wasn't the valve because my valve screwed onto the wall side perfectly. It shouldn't be there, but I don't want it to be Despite my best efforts, I barely got 3/4 of a turn into threading it onto the shower head side. Be sure to double check The cross threading did not occur. Bring a micrometer with you. A total of 20 threads are on the wall (right) side. The thickness of a human hair is 0. 3 The shower side (as shown in the photo to the left) has 20 threads. The diameter is 20mm. After wrapping the purchased shower arm in rubber, holding it in a large vise, and using a large wrench to force the valve open, I only got 2 12/2 turns, which means I may have to back it off or use two rubber washers if it does not seal. The manufacturing process needs to be improved! The phrase Made in Japan was synonymous with cheap or low quality when I was a kid (1950's). That is now a common meaning of Made in China. Finally, I'd like to add the following It should not be a problem to attach a plastic shower head to this.
Despite trying an S-shaped arm, I was forced to stand at the back of the shower due to its size. Because of the shower head's curvature, it is almost perfect to allow me (6'2" tall) to stand beneath it with minimal bending down to see it. If you have a wrench and tape, it takes about 5 minutes to install. The difference in my showers is such a small one that I'm surprised by it.
In the end, I found this to be a better outcome than I had chose this one because the one I had was made of thin metal, and after 20 years, the water had worn away the threads at the end of the end. The teflon tape was not leaking when it was installed. One gripe I have is that it has a smaller inner diameter than a regular cheap replacement. I have 2 shower heads lined up, and this limits the amount of water that can travel through the pipe. The pressure drops noticeably when both of my shower heads are running simultaneously. The difference should not be discernible if you are only using one shower head.
I like the look of this shower arm and the wall cover has a rubber edge to keep It raises the shower head higher and tilts it down so that you can lower it on your own. Those that I change out in my house I will be getting them from this seller when I change out the others. I might still need the hand wand to go to one side, but this is better than an angled pipe.
A good price for this shower arm. It seems to be a quality product. I can't speak to its longevity, but it appears the finish will last a long time. I needed a shower arm that was higher than the typical 45 degrees, and this one is slightly higher than normal. I was able to utilize it to my advantage. Although it seems like about 60 degrees, I wish they would put the actual angle on the description.
There were a lot of features and it was At this point, it probably won't last me long enough to buy it again. But I would buy it again if I needed it again.
This product isn't threaded on to standard 1/2" connections, as I read in a negative review. That advice definitely doesn't apply to me, so I am glad I ignored it.
I was extremely pleased with the fit, finish, and ease of installation. These are a great solution if you want additional standoffs for a combination shower head and wand.
As described, the item arrived at the requested time. In order to avoid stripping the paint during installation, insert a long screwdriver into the pipe and turn to gain extra leverage.
