I've been using pocket hole joinery for personal projects for the past 5 years, and I just used the White plastic plugs for the first time. I consider myself to be a DIYer of intermediate skill. For projects that do not necessitate a smooth finished surface, I prefer the plastic plugs. In my case, I used them to fill a pocket hole in a bunk bed for my kids that I built. br>br>These are a lot easier to work with than wood plugs because they don't need to be sanded afterward. I admit that I prefer the finished look of wood plugs, but man, the painted plastic plugs look pretty good. In addition, they save a few minutes. br>br>Before installing the plugs, sand the pocket holes to remove any burs or frays. These aren't as sturdy as wood plugs because they have a hollow insert, so sanding the holes to remove any burs or frays will save you time and headache. br>br>I would definitely recommend these for projects where a smooth finish isn't required.
On white furniture, it makes the pocket holes go away. They are clipped in place and can be easily backed out if disassembly is required.
I attempted to fit these over two different Kreg screw heads, but the hold is insufficient. I attempted to drill it out a little, but there is simply no room for error. I'll have to persevere in my efforts to drill more precisely. Otherwise, the only option I can think of is to cut off the inner part of the plug and use a light adhesive to hold it in place.
I couldn't get the plugs to sit flush against the wood. This is a great idea. erroneous executionbr>br>Inside the Kreg package Note: Above the surface will be plastic plugs.
It's difficult to get the thin plastic corner to work without fumbling with it. The wood ones can be easily installed with the help of a simple jig. After the wood ones are installed, they are trimmed flush to remove any minor dings on the thin end.
These plugs are great, and I think they're a lot easier to install than the wooden ones. It all depends on whether white is appropriate for your wood project, or if you prefer to paint them, which I have not done because they are suitable for the projects I have completed. I'm not sure if they come in any other colors than white, but if they do, that would be great.
These caps worked well, but it took some convincing to get them to lay completely flat. To get the cap to go all the way in a couple of the holes, a little sanding was required. The final outcome was fantastic. br>br>.
Everything that has to do with Kreg is fantastic. These are fantastic. Everything that has to do with Kreg is fantastic. These, on the other hand, are ideal for concealing those unsightly pocket holes. They were purchased to go beneath a newly finished farmhouse table. We didn't want people snagging their pants or legs on the unfinished pocket holes beneath the tabletop, which aren't visible unless you get down there to look. So, rather than wasting time with wood filler and a sander, we used these. Don't expect them to sit flush with the wood because they create a smooth, slightly rounded area.
