They must be, because they haven't corroded yet.
If the machine is turned off, I'm not sure what would happen if it overflowed accidentally, but if the plug fits, it should be fine. 2" seems a little large for a washing machine drain. While you're gone, you might want to unplug your washing machine.
Yes, it's for a 2" pipe, and it appears to be well-made enough to be left in place for three months. Although I didn't tighten it all the way for my leak test, I did lose a small amount of water. If I wanted the seal to last three months, I'd tighten it up a lot.

This was far superior to the ones I could find at my local hardware store. The heavy plastic is rustproof, and the metal hardware appears to be rust resistant as well. This plug is a full 2" in diameter. 0" in diameter, whereas the metal Chinese imports at the hardware store were significantly undersized and relied heavily on rubber ring expansion to seal, despite being labeled as 2 inch. These are a lot more secure and water-resistant.
The drain is a perfect 2" in diameter. This plug is perfect for the job. This sucker is in place thanks to the lip that prevents it from falling into the pipe, and a quick tightening with my fingers. I went through FOUR drain plugs before this arrived because it has a lip that keeps it from falling into the pipe. The time spent waiting was well worth it. The drain plug is excellent.
My mother-in-law found it to be the ideal size for a drain port on a washing machine. The washing machine was hooked up at my mother-in-law's house. The drain line gurgled whenever we took a shower or used the sink, so it was installed in a closet. This plug perfectly fit the hole for the washing machine drain, allowing us to close it off without the use of any tools - in addition to being reversible Perfect!.
This plug was required to perform a leak test on my Schluter shower system. It's a high-quality plug that's perfectly sealed.
They're a little too big for them, but my 2in cast iron pipes have rust on them.
It was used to block a shower drain in the basement.
Closed the pipes to my pool filter for winterization and it worked perfectly.
does exactly what it was designed for!.
