I'm using it outside, and I'm guessing it's mostly used outside because it's made of PVC plastic.
Tightening was accomplished with the handle of an adjustable wrench. Precision torque isn't necessary for my application. The slot, on the other hand, measures 1 1/2" wide by 3 3/4" long and 1/2" deep. To prevent the wrench from slipping, there is a post in the center of the slot. As a result, if your 1 3/8" fitting has a center hole that is 1/4" x 1" deep, it should work.
My O- was on both of them when I got them. The plug has a ring attached to it.
Threads have never been counted. Fits a 6" Sched 40 pvc clean-up hose. out. I can't help you if you're trying to use it for something else.

I have a 6-inch pipe with a 6-inch inner diameter. 5" and I'm having a hard time finding anything that will fit. I was about to order a new pair of pipe plugs when I happened to come across this. It sits the entire way in and is just a hair shy of being a perfect fit at the top edge, which I was hoping for because it's tapered and other reviews say it's larger than 6". However, because the top rim covers everything, I'm going to leave it alone for now and duck taping around the edges. At the very least, it'll keep me occupied until I'm ready to replace the items.
Fits a 6" sewer cleaning plug standard. I just used a pair of pliers backwards so the handles stuck into it, and it fit your standard "schedule 40" 6 inch pipe perfectly. It was simple to twist, but more difficult to tighten. I could easily tighten it down by twisting the pliers with a pair of channel locks as a lever. I don't want to tighten it up too much because I have to use root killer every year. There will be no more mowing it down with the lawnmower. It also looks much better than a large white square protruding from the grass.
It fits, and the lawnmower doesn't rip it out in the middle.
This was purchased to cover a 6" pvc pipe, but it did not fit because the pipe's diameter was closer to 7". As a result, it served no purpose. When I tried to return it, I was told not to worry about it, and Amazon refunded my money. Goodwill was the recipient of the item.
6 inches isn't enough. I'm not sure about the ones that were being shipped a year ago, but they are only for outdoor cleanout adapters as of July 2020. Look at the dimensions now listed in the specs to see why it won't fit on regular schedule 40 pvc 6 inch pipe. If that's all you're looking for, don't bother. I have to go back.
This was purchased to replace a standard cap that protruded too far above the top of my reel mower. This worked perfectly; there is a tool for doing so, but it was just as easy to snap the peg in the middle and tighten it up with the back of a flat bar.
My cleanout plug was damaged by a push mower from a neighbor, so I replaced it with this low-profile version in the hopes that it would stay in place. As expected, it works and fits perfectly.
