They'll hold a picture or something else that only applies downward force. When drapery is opened and closed, it is subjected to lateral forces, which cause it to shift. Only use monkey hooks for items that can hang from a hook, according to the rule of thumb.
I'm sure it depends on the wall's condition and what you're hanging there (depends). My large living room paintings have not been harmed, but the two-way mirror I hung in the bathroom has deteriorated over the last few years.
Yes, but you'll need to drill a hole first, using a drill bit that's 1/16 or smaller. You'll need to get behind the lathe or mesh to do this.
For the past ten years, I've had a large epoxy-covered art piece hanging on my wall that hasn't moved. It must be 25 pounds in weight. I believe I used three hooks. I just hung a 2 pound box frame with a traditional picture hanging hook from one of those little boxes at hardware or dollar stores, and it fell off the wall, damaging it.

It isn't always successful. This is a difficult product to work with. br>However, when it does, it's fantastic. It clings to the wall with the power of magic. It's simple to set up and sturdy. However, all of the stars must align in order for it to work. It does not work if there is a box in the wall. It won't work if there's a stud in the way. It will not work if the drywall is installed over brick. It will not work if the area behind the drywall is too small. In total, I received a 7-star rating. I had eight locations in mind for it, and I was able to make three or four of them work.
Someone much smarter than me must have used physics principles to have lunch with Houdini, and this is the result of that meeting. br>On the wall, I hung 40, yes 40, pound wood carvings- I should mention the original drywall from a 1970s home, which is still looking as good as new after 8 months. This product is simple to use, and if I can hang those suckers by myself, I'll consider it a success. You, too, are capable.
I'm not sure where all these positive reviews came from or what I did wrong (I followed the directions to the letter), but I'm so sorry I bought this product. I hung my brand new 30lb clock with the largest hook. When I was finished, everything looked good and solid. I was pleased with the final result. I went out for a quick grocery run, and when I returned, my clock was broken and lying on the floor! I'm kicking myself for not using nails on all of my frames and canvases instead of buying this. This set of hooks is completely ineffective! It's not a good idea to purchase it.
Nails and screws are my preferred method of fastening. I've never been a big fan of gadgets. We recently moved into a home with immaculate walls and a plethora of items with which to decorate. Hanging the scariest thing- a large clock br>Finally, I've made up my mind. The regulator clock is a solid piece of art that hangs on the wall next to the front door. What a brilliant idea!.
The mirror weighed only about 10 pounds.
It's been sitting on the floor in my dining room for a month because I'm afraid of the holes I'd have to make in the wall to hang it. I was all set to use standard drywall screws (I even bought two packages), but I decided to look for advice on how to hang mirrors first. I'm glad I did, because I wouldn't have found a mention of Monkey Hook in one of the search results if I hadn't. I admit that I base most of my online shopping decisions on customer reviews, so I read a lot of them before deciding to place an order. I'm pleased to report that not only have I hung the mirror (all by myself), but I've also hung a few other items. I've tried all three sizes and had no problems with any of them. To be honest, determining and measuring for placement took a lot longer than actually installing the Monkey Hook. It takes only a few seconds to complete. Don't be hesitant to buy this if you're on the fence about it. It does exactly what it says on the tin. This is something I would recommend to anyone and would order again in a heartbeat. Thanks!.
I've always been an "OK, I'll get to it" type of guy because I don't just drop everything and go look for the right size hanger, find my hammer and tape measure and hang something on demand; however, since she brought me a monkey hook, the job has gotten a lot easier and cleaner. There are no tools needed; simply push the monkey hook through the drywall, turn it right side up, and you're done. This pack includes heavy duty, regular, and short/tight fit sizes, all of which have proven to be effective on every job thus far. We just keep them in a kitchen drawer, and they make hanging all kinds of things a lot easier. They are less obtrusive to the wall and are also easier to move around. The old-fashioned picture hangars that we've always used aren't going away anytime soon.
It's possible that this is the best gadget for hanging pictures and other items. This is the best way to hang anything you need on your walls if you have sheetrock walls (which most modern homes do). In order to properly place and fit a framed mirror in the bathroom, I needed two holders. I'm not the most handy person, but I simply measured the required distance and hung the monkey hook from the wall. I hung the mirror in under five minutes. There are some YouTube videos that show you how to use the product, and you will not be disappointed if you purchase it.
