The finished product is far superior to the builder's standard coiled stops, and it is incredibly simple to install. I can only assume that the reviewer(s) who had trouble installing were doing it incorrectly. Simply screw it in as far as you can by hand, then protect it by wrapping a cloth around the stop's body and tightening it with a wrench. SO easy! br>br>I say that, but before I started using a cloth, I scratched a couple of them (see photos). That was MY fault, not the product's; I assumed that if I handled it carefully enough, it wouldn't scratch, but I was mistaken. If you don't have any holes already from stops you're replacing, drill a small pilot hole first to make getting them in much easier and less likely to split the wood or laminate baseboard. br>br>Oh, and if you don't have any holes already from stops you're replacing, drill a small pilot hole first to make getting them in much easier and less likely to split the wood or laminate baseboard.
We had builder-grade flexible doorstops installed in our home, but we didn't notice them until we got a kitten. My husband found these online and ordered them right away after seeing him cut the white ends off of two of them. They've been in place for a few months, and I've seen our kitten try to chew on them, but none of the tips have come off (and there are no chew marks on them). They also look a lot nicer than the builder-grade ones and are a lot easier to install.
They look fantastic with the rest of my black hardware. It was extremely simple to set up. My only complaint is that not all of the door stoppers are created equal. I ordered two boxes, half of which were perfect, and the other half of which appeared to have the coating dripped in the middle, making it very difficult to screw in because the flat head could not fit properly due to the dripping, which created a thick line.
Overall, these doorstops have exceeded my expectations. I deducted a star because, after removing the rubber tip, it appears that you should be able to install them with a flathead screwdriver. However, the notch for the flathead in the batch I received had metal filling in it, rendering the notch useless. But that's not a problem. To protect the stem, I simply wrapped it in masking tape and tightened it with an adjustable wrench.
I liked them a lot more than the ones I had in the spring. It's simple to paint them in a pleasing color. I enlarged the pre-existing holes with a 5/32 drill bit, and these screws went in nice and tight. Only one of the twelve that I received was slightly damaged. It's not a big deal; just put it in the laundry room! I would purchase this item again. Stop looking, because these are the ones you're looking for, believe me.
They won't be able to get the rubber tips off of these. They lose a star because the screwdriver slot is still flashing, making it difficult to screw in!.
Elegant Simple, but adds a nice touch of modernism. It's the little things that count! I would buy this product again because of the high quality and ease of installation. I would strongly suggest it. br>The only minor drawback (in my opinion) is the price, which is still reasonable for the quality. Is there any door stop that is worth more than a dollar per piece? lol.
Great material, but a little difficult to put together because some of them had a metal piece in the middle. So there were six of them who had that issue. Other than that, it looks great and is sturdy enough for the doors.
